I'm not an "excellent" player, I'm pretty Joe Shmoe, nor does this have any bearing on tier 1 gameplay as I'm just a tier 2 scrublord. Now, the builds below are also not top tier meta min-maxing, they are what I find interesting, fun, and what I do well with. As a side note, all of my Corsairs are still unskilled (despite all of them sitting on 10k EXP) as I really wanted to get a feel for them BEFORE I started playing around with skills and such (also none of them have consumables, but that's more of me just forgetting instead of intentional action).
Looks:
Spoiler
Its ******* amazing. They did a fine job on the model. It has that proper "strapped together quickly in a junkyard" look while still exuding menace. 10 outa 10.
General Chassis:
Its quite strong. I haven't really been seeing the squishyness other people have reported. Generally carries enough firepower to do the job while having enough armor to take the punishment in return. Yeah, its a bit on the slower side for most builds, but basically all IS 90-100 ton IS mechs are. only real downsides are that when someone gets far enough on your left, its a huge target on the variants without the Fafnir arm and you will lose that torso fairly easily. But if someone gets that far around you, you've been doing something wrong in the firstplace. And despite the complaints of its size, this thing is really compact. Relating it to the Banshee is sort of like comparing a King Crab to an Atlas.
Individual Chassis:
COR-5R (S): Set up like a "standard" IS mech with a single large ballistic mount, some smattering of missiles, and a bunch of energy points. Plays a lot like a Banshee 3S, but is a bit more compact from the front. Performance wise, its pretty good. I've had quite a few 800 damage games in this, and haven't had a match under 300 damage yet.
COR-5T: Its a better armored Dakka Wolf that is faster and more maneuverable. but has all the dakka in the arms with a whole bunch of locked 'equipment' (Shoulder, Upper, Lower, AND Hand actuators!) that makes it so you can't trade all of them out for UACs for ultimate dakka or LBs for memeing. You can trade out 2 of the 3 in each arm though, so there is that. Stock+ is basically the only 'viable' build in this as pretty much everything else can be done in any of the other builds but better. That doesn't mean this is weak though, but it isn't that strong either. Performance wise, its a KC-000 that has less armor but is slightly faster and more maneuverable while lacking missiles but having double the energy backup weapons.
COR-6R: Eh... honestly not a fan of this variant. Its definitely the memeiest, being the only variant that can double HGauss (which it can do better than everything but the Fafnir because it has some pretty nice high mounts for the ballistics while retaining a small profile). Other than that, there aren't a whole lot of "fun" or "good" builds for this. Its almost as odd as the Thanatos 5P. Performance wise, it plays like a deformed Mauler 2P (which was my first assault Mech, and I still have fond memories playing) with better geometry and more armor.
COR-7A (Alternate): This one... its pretty odd, but I like it. The 4 AMS meme makes me smile every time. Good dakka, can't really do much else. More of a supporting character that's better suited to assisting "better" mechs in a push, but can still do quite a bit solo (not that you should ever be fighting solo). Performance wise... I haven't really played anything else quite like this. Maybe a deformed Nightstar?
COR-7R: If you don't like RLs for whatever reason, you can drop it then swap the LT SRM4 for a SRM6 for more consistent DPS/Alpha. Its a 5S+, with a LOT of missile hardpoints for SRM spam fun. This is also one of the few mechs in the entire game that are viable zombies. 3 SRM4s are nothing to scoff at when its coming at you with no torsos or arms. This is my second favorite of the chassis. Performance wise, its similar to a Skokomish with a bit more tonnage to play around.
Broadside (Alternate): Honestly... my least favorite of the entire chassis. Playing this, I can understand why people who were waiting to get the holiday bonus to see if they wanted to pick up a Corsair wouldn't want one after playing it. Its hardpoint placements are sorta weird for any "sensible" builds, and coupling the numbers with that its sort of hard to find a "proper" build it can do the other variants can't (which those would usualy do it better as well). I guess you could do something like THIS, but then again its pretty similar to a 7R or 5T but they just can do it better. Performance wise... eh... its probably like a slightly worse Knockout.
Ravager: Okay, on the surface it looks just like a Broadside that swaps out its missile points for energy while retaining the ballistic quirk... but this one is actually pretty fun. I suppose you could toss the "same" build onto the Broadside and do just as well, but I've tried that and its just feels odd for some reason. Performance wise, its the IS Deathstrike.
Quick edit; Alternate build of the Broadside didn't save properly. Fixed.
Edit 2: Fixed 5R name.
