Hey guys,

can anyone recommend a good brawl build for the FLE-20 with MASC and Stealth Armour?

So far I have rather mediocre success with that Flea...which is weird.

Brawler? I think what you're looking for is a Scout-Harasser build. Brawler means going toe-to-toe and face-tanking the damage for a while. Fleas can't do that. The main strong point for that mech is its size and speed.

More like backstabber, if you prefer that term. Run up, circle the mech, try to stay in its rear (actually that's brawling)

brawl... no I have that mech with 5 ERML if you want to brawl make it with SPL

Brawl is a rough and chaotic fight, uncontrolled is the term used to describe it in the dictionary I believe.
Backstabbing is a rather specific and very controlled fighting style, where small pulses would serve rather well. The short burn time ensure that your damage goes into whatever rear torso you are aiming at.

But with stealth armor and a small profile it would probably do well as a mid range harasser.

ECM and Stealth armor are not worth 3 hard points. Flea 17 is the superior Flea and it will do a much better work at brawling than Flea 20.

If u want stealth and masc u can take 2 medpulse 2 smal laser. For 5 spl u need to skip stealth or masc (missing one slot)

Max XL, ECM, Stealth armor, MASC, 5 SLs and as many heat sinks as you got tonnage left. It is cold enough for prolonged brawls even with constant stealth on.

FLE-17 is better for 1v1. But quickplay ins't 1v1. Stealth means that when you isolate your prey most likely nobody will come to help it. Plus, FLE-20 is a hard counter to any lock-on boat.

I use both of these builds in FP conquest. Both are relatively cool running and give you enough alpha to two-shot 20 tonner legs, and in some cases one shot 20 tonner rear CTs.

The flea 20 is a decent knife fighter especially if you spec into mobility. It is no 17, but it has advantages that the 17 does not.

The key to using the 20 in a knife fight is knowing when to go stealth, vs when to turn off ECM completely. To use it this way you really need to understand the ranges and have impeccably situational awareness.

Master this, and the 20 can pull off a lot of stunts, especially on the new released older maps.

Honestly I do not use MASC on any of my 20 builds. There is just not enough slots for it, and you really do not gain anything extra from it.

The two main builds I use on my 20 are these


FLE-20

1 MPL 4 SML's

AND

FLE-20

5 SPL's

Really just depends on my mood.

People get really really to hung up on having to have MASC for the flea. The 17 does need it, since Radar Derp is its only other counter to radar lock, and MASC does get you out of a snag. However the 20 can easily break away even more so than the 17. Especially on maps where you know, that the enemy is most likely in Thermal Vision.

TLDR, you scarafice much needed DPS on the 20 trying to plug a MASC in there.

While not a knife fighter the FLE-20

is a heck of a PITA on most matches. Especially HPG.
