TLDR: Take the private match Lobby, add an "open for everyone" option and have a list of all open matches in the mechlab so people can join.

Additions that should be in there:
- Setting up map rotation
- Setting up how many matches in the selected mode/map you will play

Pretty much what you could do back in the days in Counterstrike or HL2 MP or Battlefield.
A small, quick setup for a "server".

The basic idea would be that instead of automatic bucket creation players would create buckets...well kinda.

So instead of haveing the buttons for "search game" you would have, most likely in an extra screen, an overview of all running buckets.

You can now either join a bucket that has an open space or you can create your own bucket.

When creating your own bucket you would set it up pretty much like you do private matches but accessible for all people.

Give your bucket a name, select the game mode (QP, FP, etc) number of rounds this mode will be played etc. When you are done you open the bucket and people can join.

When the bucket is full the game starts. When no one leaves after a match and there are rounds left in the bucket, you will get a brief chance to select another mech or change lances and then start with the same team into the next match.
Idealy that means you can have matches in a shorter time then going back to the main menu and hit search again.

In practice I would imagne it like this:
You go in and load the list. There you see a bucket with 5 QP matches with a map rotation of Rubby and Frozen City only that has 2 spaces left and 4 more games to play. You like it, you join.

Another example could be that you say: "Today I want to play Solaris". You create your own bucket with Gamemode - Solaris and you don't care for the division as long as you find a likeminded person, so you set it up for divisions 1-7.

I think that could be quite interesting as it would give you, in an instant, an overview of all the people who are online and what they want to play.
Also if you don't want specific maps you can exclude them, have only one gamemode or many.
Another aspect might be that, when playing several matches together, there might be more teamplay as people start to "know" each other.
