I used to laugh at the thought of a stealth Assault mech. (Waving arms) "Hey look, you can not see me!". Oh you can visually. Day after the patch, I got fed up of LRMs and thought I would give this a try. Noticed advantages, and a lot of disadvantages. The build can be a struggle, and not only that. The battlefield, then your outcome, and of course the damage score.
Advantages:
Stealth: No one can pick you up on Radar. No LRMs. Definitely no LRMs locks. It is like freedom. Surprising the enemy. (if they are alone, like LRM boaters, snipers), no one can pick you up under UAVs.
Now the,
Disadvantages:
PPCs, ErPPcs: (One hit and your Stealth is off, you are now visible).
Narcs: (you may be stealth, but that narcs shows),
Seismic: (if they are using from skill level),
Destroyed: If your stealth gets destroyed even at the start of round. It is like your life support been pulled. Even your ECM is gone. You are open for destruction in a few heart beats.
Tag: Enemy has to keep this on you, but it can give you away for a period of time.
Heat: A definite downfall even on a Assault mech. Less weapons, or smaller firepower, heat management used with weapons (Rot cannons), lasers,
Blinded: You can not see the enemy when stealth activated even when UAVs are used. Your totally blind (sometimes you can).
Capping/Taking Bases: When in circle, bases. The spots consider you not there. So, you can not capture.
Builds: When using Stealth you have less slots for weapons, heat sinks and other. So, really you can not use Heavy Gauss, LBX20's at all and if you use UAC20s, some times their is no room for AMS (Well for the Fanfir anyways), Rot cannons are a risk for heat with stealth activated. Timing to get those rots moving, is a downfall, and then heat already up (never did like Rot cannons for many reasons. Timing and their is a sound bug, even when friendlies use em). Using a laser to back you up, still risky.
And lastly: The damage score for using stealth on assault mech (For me), was never good.

I can never get a good stealth assault build. But the freedom of LRM boats along with AMS, ECM for your team and yourself is the best thing. I turn off stealth when about 4 enemy mechs are still alive. Lights use stealth, and they can really kick ***, do numbers, and be (practically) invincible (speed, lag, hit boxes). Even their camo, paint job helps.
Any one have found, made good builds on Assault mechs?

Stealth MRM80 on the Hatamoto-Chi is probably the best bet. Otherwise you can be a Stealth Fafnir Gauss troll.

The only builds I could make for Fanfir Assault.

Fanfir-5B
2 Gauss (R/L torsos)
5 ER-Med Lasers
ECM (minatory for Stealth)
AMS (I am a AMS junky)
(4 Gauss Ammo)
(1 AMS Ammo)
4 Double Heat Sinks (2 Left Arm/2 Right Arm)
Std Engine 295 (1 Double Heat Sink (5/(10))
Fire Power: 55
Heat Management: 1.65

Fanfir - 5B
Dual LBX10 AC
AMS
Case for ammo
5 ER Med Lasers
ECM
4Double Heat Sinks
Std Engine 325 (with 3 Double Heat sinks (7/(10))
Fire Power: 45
Heat Management 1.58

Only 2 I find best out of 10 I have.
4 Light Gauss (nope)
2 Rotary 5s (nope)
4 Rotary 2s (nope),
Few more, but nope with these.
Even though heat management is a skill along with using the weapons. You will not get anywhere.

Best maps
Caustic Valley
The Mining Collective. Was surprised 3 guys 100m away couldn't see me, torso twisting like crazy, and turned their backs. Until I fired weapons. Prob the right camo.
And the classic maps, specially Frozen City (day "foggy") is the best.
Other maps is a struggle, but benefits from LRMs and helping team.

You're choices are going to be limited to the Atlas, Hatamoto, Fafnir, Stalker, Nightstar, and Cyclops. The most agile of them will be the Hata and Cyclops. The cyclops will probably be the best in terms of detecting enemies yourself since it has a sensor range boost on itself and stealth normally interferes with your own radar locking to gather info on targets.

Here's one way you can do the cyclops with minimal changes from how its in the game store....

I was encouraging that idea and even made a topic about it a while ago but I realized that the lack of slots and good heat management along with not being able to rely on the HUD to get the location of the enemies, the Stealth Assaults aren't exactly viable. Well, for me anyway.

Well, the experiment is doing some wonders. I find myself surrounded by enemy, and they are thinking I am one of theirs. Feeling like I am some spy, or some pilot about to sabotage. It is not they can not see me, or camo. It is that they do not see the FF (red/Blue). Or they are not looking on the mini map. Domination, Polar Highlands was the best. I really dunno how, but I ended up in the middle of enemy mechs, and they didn't know I was there. I kept firing on their backs. Got myself 7 kills on that round and a nice damage score. Happened 3x today from being inside enemy group, Weird. I am sure having a lot of fun with the stealth Assault. Takes skill, and it can be funny sometimes. One of the best things is you will not be able to deal with the feeling of LRMs hitting you. That was the reason I went to do stealth Assault builds. Note: Always keep your stealth on for best. Even after getting hit with any PPC. Just wait and activate again (constant).
