Since the need for 3 is long gone...do we realy need the 3-6 Mech in the pack if there are only 2 or 3 mechs originaly and the others are made up?

Would you consider buying a mechpack with fewer mechs when the price is equaly lowered?

No, we don't need the old model anymore. I've been calling for the ability to pick-and-choose individual variants for a long time.

The pricing should be handled kind of like the old Clan Invasion a la carte thing where getting multiple mechs would give you a more efficient price per mech. There should also be different reward tiers that get activated as you keep adding more and more variants to your order, giving you goodies like premium time warhorns etc. If you only got like one or two variants then you probably wouldn't be eligible for all those doodads.

When I buy packs.... if I buy packs I usually sell the chassis I don't need or like and keep the motors

Well PGI needs...
basic pack usually has one decent/good variant and two obselete.
reinforcement pack has one or two good mechs, sometimes one better than any of the basic pack.
and heroes are usually good.

So if you want all the good variants and PGI gets more $

It depends but most of the time I don't mind extra mechs since it increase my playtime with them and some offer different playstyles depending on the mech.

No, the 6 Mechs sales model is obsolete. I guess PGI is just keeping it to keep special Mechs behind a paywall and can sell less powerfull variants in the standard packs

Mechpacks are like a premade salad, you get a little bit of chicken - few tomatoes and cucumber then a crap ton of lettuce as filler so they can justify the price of said salad (mech pack).

Why would you want fewer variants? Unless you're suggesting picking individual variants like Fup is I don't see why you'd want less variants. Some of the best variants have been the PGI made variants.

I like the variety and the higher chance of getting good variants on the chassis I like.

I like having more variants and also the ability to buy any ones I want in a mech pack, from 1 to 6.

Were I to choose between the way it is now or less variants, I would choose the way it is now. Obviously being able to pick and choose which ones you want would be best, but I feel like we aren't going to get that (having our cake and eating it too)

Well you can still wait until the MC/Cbill release...that is kinda "a la cart".

I'm willing to pay $$$ now than faux-$$$ later. Maybe PGI is interested in $$$ and not faux-$$$.

I say bring back those Drop Ship Deals, but for new and upcoming mechs. So I'll drop some money for a couple of Corsairs and Vapor Eagles. Keep the 6.5m cbills, colours and stuff as sweeteners for those who still get the packs.

than only works until you have like a dozen of every size and type (at least the ones that aren't blatant ripoffs).

i actually want to see more stand alone heros and variants. not to replace mech packs mind you, just as lower budget options in the < $10 price range. especially power creeped classic mech variants.

id like to buy the usual mechpack heros as a stand alone mech but what i usually end up doing is farming events for mc and getting them for free. one shouldn't have to buy a bunch of mechs they dont want to get the one they do. but if one is willing to throw down real money to get just the hero on release day there really is no reason not to.

Yes if there is enough to justify the 6 mechs. Take the vapor eagle for instance each variant feels different and has different optimal loadouts. It's been one of the best packs released.

On the other hand, you have the Warhammer iic where the 3 is almost the same as the 1 with a single missile hardpoint removed and the 4/10 variants are also similar. They could've just come out with 3-4 variants for that one.

Standalone heros...that would be nice. My mechstable is big enough, buying just some heros here and there...mostly for the paintjob...that would be nice.

i'd love an option to choose mech variants at lower price for mechs. I mean look at the new cptl-c2 coming this year.
i don't want those other 3 mechs at all its bundled with and I already have 6 of the soon to be 8 cptls;once I get the C2 I'll have 7 of 8 cptl variants.

For mechs with multiple heroes you could make your own themed "mech pack" such as drouble dragon fang and flame pack.

I think the last time I actually went all the way and fully mastered every variant in a pack (at least, prior to the 'Mech being released for cbills) was the Rifleman. I've bought several other full packs since then, but one or more variants- sometimes all of them- ended up shelved. I definitely haven't done it since rule of three went away. Even the 'Mechs I really fell in love with and got the Ultimates of... there's at least one that isn't quite ground out yet which could have waited for later acquisition if the others it was packaged with weren't so desirable.

An ala carte buying option would probably result in me grabbing at least one variant from every pack. I already know I'll be picking up at least one each of the Vapor Eagle, Hatamoto-Chi, and Charger when they're out for cbills. I came pretty close to grabbing the Corsair pack until PGI went and gave me a free one, and still plan on getting at least the AMS boat once it's available in-game. I love the art direction this game took. Sometimes I like to just buy 'Mechs to look at them, drive 'em around, play with builds a bit. Y'know. Mechlab is half the game. I'd probably log in every now and then just for that, if there weren't anybody to drop with.

At the very least, IMO, the Hero should be available separately. Some of them already are- at least for the Invasion and Resistance packs, Origins, KGC, and Urbie. I would drop money on that Dervish hero, if I could grab it separately from the rest of the ones I don't really care about.
