Dear god. There's no way to describe it without it being very insulting so I'll just say 'teams are bad'.

I'm playing mid-day PST, between like 10am and 5pm. Tons of just irrationally cowardly players. Groups of people wandering off alone. It's a long list of bad behaviors but I mean... they're bad. So terrible, embarrassing, humiliating bad.

What happened?

Well what did we all expect when given the choice between supporting coordinated and cooperative group play backed by player units and random solos with no team work and the solo randoms were chosen as the center piece of MWO.

Bad teams with no coordination or communication will be the norm.

No it's really, really bad right now. Been around, what, 4-5 years at this point? I've never seen it this bad or had more un-enjoyable matches in a row, ever in the history of MWO, than the past 2-3 weeks. I think the PSR system has finally proven why it's so horrible, as T1 matches have many more players who are not even slightly competent than players who even know game basics at this point.

No one communicates, no one listens to those who do(rarely) call shots or tactics, everyone spews vitriol at each other no matter whose fault anything is, and it's just really hard for even a patient person to find a way to enjoy the game. Really annoyed, as I broke my own rule and spent a little money this past year, so I'm trying to force myself to still find enjoyment in MWO, but it's becoming increasingly difficult.

I don't even know if there's anything PGI itself can do anymore, or if this is just the results of much of the community giving up over the years, and all we're left with are the dregs, and a few of us stubborn idiots still trying to actually play the game in an intelligent fashion and enjoy it.

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder...", etc...

In my experience, playing outside of US prime time is when the solo queue gets just damned stupid (most common is people in brawl builds trying to "snipe", OMFG, frustrating).

I was wondering too about what have happened. I noticed that solo queue teams became worse and worse since last years December. Either there have been an influx of new players or an influx of returning players who were already bad at the game when they left and became even worse since.

Currently it's 50/50 whether you're dumped on the potato team, most matches are a straight up one sided stomp.

I have a few theories:

1. There are new players actually, not many, but I've seen 'em. Heck, ran across some lady who is also a Twitch streamer who started playing only a few weeks ago. She's still rough and hasn't quite caught on to the over all 'best strategies' but if there's ONE you know there's more.
2. Seasoned players moving on thinning out the talent pool.
3. During prime time, experienced and skilled players are in the game, after prime time, those people who typically have actual jobs and careers will go to bed and all that's left are people who fall into one of the following categories:

A. Kiddies staying up late on a school night (as on the weekends 'prime time' hours seem to be extended and you can have a longer run of good matches).

B. The people who don't have jobs, and just aren't skilled at the game.

C. People who have jobs, but are on vacation, and are getting their drunk on while playing (I 'occasionally' fall into this category myself)

D. Insomniacs who have nothing better to do, but are so strung out on lack of sleep, they play like morons.

you've just forgotten how bad it used to be and your memories are probably mixed up with FP Kcom drops. I've looked at some solo qp recordings from 2 years ago....it was much worse than I remember, I guess I was worse then too. Solo qp has always been a giant mess of chaotic stupidity. The PSR system means you have a full spectrum of player skill, vast majority of players want nothing to do with teamplay and you're effectively punished if you're trying to play as a team member. The loss of players and people crawling their way up to tier 1 may have a slight effect, but mostly it's always been like that. Solo QP is a place to derp around, play with weird builds, grind out mechs, play wasted, and FLANK RIGHT. Trying to play it as a team game, with good builds, proper positioning and coordination and expecting it to go that way is just a sure way to frustration, because there will always be 8+ people on your team that are treating it as testing grounds with red doritos that shoot back

It'#s true, matches just keep getting worse, but you're witnessing the effect of a new assault being introduced.

Lots of corsairs running around that are unskilled/ experimental builds/ piloted by people who don't play much and just returned for content injections. That's making a further dip in the admittedly low quality of the matches.

strange I had quite a lot people talking recently in games (but those happened on N american server games) And I have not a single prson seem to flame anyone else.

But the PSr is seriously broken due to being more like an Xp bar than a skill indicator and even low tier potatoes with bad lrm builds make enough spread damage to reach top tiers. And when those meet real good players i can imagine that they get preeetty angry

Who cares about teams playing bad? Quick play is about fun, if you want to win group queue or faction play is for you then. We dont tryhard round here in puglandia, if ya cant handle the heat get out of the kitchen bud.

And besides the chaos of pugs is fun, less meta builds and more fun unpredictable matches compared to boringsville that is premades where they gota crunch them numbers and make sure that build is .1% more efficient or its bust.

And Tier level is still only an experience bar showing a player's ability to do JUST ENOUGH to satisfy PSR to move up, there is no moving goal posts, same static goal posts as before. And fewer players actually playing Group or FP also means that type of experience is not being carried over into SQ.

Okay, now please remove your rosey colored glasses !! :)

winning is fun, but it isn't everything. fun matches (non stomps) are fun

going 1v10 because your team decided to delete themselves isn't fun.

steamrolling 5 XL atlases isn't fun.

"on 3 we push E6..okay go" and then 2 people follow, while the rest of the team spins in circles or fires into the ground, isn't fun.

You know what fun games are? Win or lose, the whole team does a nice 300-500 damage per player, with more than half the team getting a kill or two.

During IS primtime was way better. Playing in Euro timeframe was just.... wow.

One match had 3 people die with sub 50 damage because they got shot through the back trying to run away... from 2 mechs. The 3 of them, running from 2 mechs.

Yeah, it's probably just my memory. However I used to be able to run about a 1.9 w/l in SQ. That's.... not been a thing lately. Could easily just be me.

A lot of the Veteran players have left the game, the Tier system IMO allowed players to play with other players who didn't know how to play. When I started you were dropped into the middle of the good players and had to learn how to play. So IMO this is what you get when the Veteran players quit playing and the ones that are left never learned how to play. Just my Opinion nothing more.
