I am approaching redeeming my mech for the luckycharms challenge and I am simply overwhelmed by the number of mechs I can choose from. I mainly play srm brawling or laser+ ppcs. I like mechs that are mobile while packing a decent punch while I don’t really enjoy assault dakkas. I enjoy poptart ( good old 2013 cataphract). Any good suggestion for me or shed light on which mech you are gonna pick And what build you plan to make to kick some robotic asses!

For the X'mas event, I picked the Mauler, which is turned out to be the most expensive free mech for me. But I have the Hellbringer. The loadout I have for it is 2 HLL and 4 ERMLL, ECM by buying a different LT Omnipod and the rest is DHS. Can be very active and dish out a lot of laser vomit damage.

This time around, I think I'll be going with the Orion IIC. I need to build my clan mech collection. By default, it's set up to be a fast brawler. I had my eye on the Highlander IIC but I'm told that it isn't that good. So, I don't want a repeat of the Mauler incident.

Based on your preferences:

Brawler: Orion IIC or Roughneck
Lasers and/or PPCs: Grasshopper, Nova, or Warhammer
Pure lasers: Hellbringer, Grasshopper, Warhammer, or Nova
Poptart: Grasshopper or Nova

All of them are decently mobile (depending on which engine you take)

Personally I'm still deciding. Probably going to pick either the Warhammer or Orion IIC (runner up Bushwacker). I already have the Invasion and Virago Hellbringers, Grasshopper champ, Nova champ, C-Bill Crab, and Hunch IIC champ. The rest I'm not interested in because they're either too big/slow or too small/fast (and not interested in this particular Roughneck variant because it looks awkward to make any non-brawler build on).

Kodiak again, most expensive prize and I still have hundreds of thousands of historical XP banked for the KDK-3.

Mauler MX90 as I don't have a Mauler yet, and I do like the looks of the quad LB10 build.

I decided to grab the Warhammer. I'm trying 2 HPPC + 7 SL as my first build, if that doesn't go well then I'm just going laser vomit.

I went with the Hellbringer, and I'm throwing the camo scheme on my Mad Dog. Really liking how the Hellbringer plays with the ECM potential.

I played the event with my IS account, but as it always happens, sometimes I have to play that account on the clan side, so to better this, I picked the Orion IIC, because it's one of the best Clan LRM boats, so my secondary account can be at least descent when out of his field.

I'm not planing on going for the cammo, will rather use the phase 3 time investment to start playing on my Primary account to get as much MC as possible..

Already had most of the other mechs so chose a warhammer.

Your best bet is Orion IIC, wolfhound, and crab.

Orion IIC is the best heavy brawler just about

Wolfhound is the all around good medium

Crab is a tanky dps brawl crab. load it up with 5-6 MPL and a big LFE engine fitted with 4-6+ DHS and you're good to go.

looking at the list, here are ones that i can see as being viable at higher levels of play in some degree:

crab, grasshoper, hunch2c, wolfhound, warhammer, mauler, nova, hellbringer, roughneck, bushwanker.

everything else is either ultra situational or just terrible in current state of game. Top picks imo are the hellbringer (ECM, meta laser puke builds with some other options if you just wanna have fun like dakka or gauss), grasshoper (vomit/HPPC), and warhammer (also vomit/HPPC) and finally the hunch2c (dual uac20 is a thing now even if its a bit niche, as well as a viable 2x uac10 setup). Ofc if you dont like any of them, get a kodiak and sell it, its the most raw credits, but the above are ones i either have or have seen do extremely well in games.
