Really confused with Targeting Computers along with Skill Tree. Do these Targeting Computers actually do their job? OR just a waste of tonnage. Not seeing number improvements along with Skill Tree numbers. Read that Clan Targeting Computers will do nothing, but not sure about IS Targeting Computers.

They are working don't worry, and they work really well.

But bonus stats from tcomp do not show in the mechlab.

Thanks. I do use it. But sometimes, mixed in with Skill tree, can be confusing.

Just remember, if you loose the component where your tcomp is, you loose that bonuses

Yes and no….. You can see it.
Take a mech with lasers and go to the testing grounds and watch the range of the lasers. Then go to mechlab an try the largest Tc you can get and go again to the testing grounds (you dont have to buy or save it, there is a new function for the testing grounds > mech stats - enter testing grounds...).

Yeah, to get the stats from Targeting Computers to show up in the Mech Lab, PGI would need to be operating some kind of giant automatic adding machine which took the stats from the TC and added them to the stats for the Mechs and the Skill Nodes, and then displayed on the screen.

A mind-blowing concept, right?

Works great! My blood asp has 999 effective range with 4 er larges. I can tickle people at 2k and seriously mess them up the closer they get to that effective range. Love my TC.

I've seen quite a few use a tc just for the extra velocity on ballistics. Not sure if that's worth the tonnage but I guess it might make sense for a ac2 build.

I'm pretty sure the 'crit bonus' that's supposed to be attached to the TC is just a BS number. I've NEVER been able to notice/measure or otherwise quantify 'better/more' crits with a TC.

It's frustrating to put a LOT of ballistics into an open/red component location and have to hit it just as many times as I would without a TC before getting component destruction.

Yes and no. They work, but they don't. They DO increase your weapons range and they DO increase the likelihood of scoring a critical hit. But they don't necessarily give you any firepower advantage.

It's added to your base 40% chance to score a crit. Certain weapons may modify the probability.

the crit bonus is insignificant. you take TC for the velocity bonus. if you dont need the velocity bonus dont take a TC.

the range bonus it gives to lasers is generally not worth more than taking a level 1 TC unless youre using ERLLs because the range bonus is percentile based so the longer the range of the base weapon the bigger the benefit. Only ERLLs really have enough base range to make the TC range bonus meaningful.

Theres certainly something to be said for being able to hit someone with ERLL from 2000m away on boreal vault.
