Where does it say that "playing" should only involve perfect visibility? What's wrong with turning MWO more into a simulation and less an eSports-wannabe?

You want more simulation? Great, let's simulate proper night vision and heat vision optics. The ones we currently have on our Mechs would make 70ies Soviet tank optics look modern.

That is why the limited visibility has nothing to do with any simulation. It is a simple game design choice, just as artificial as the whole scenario of a match in MWO.

My suggestions;
1) Make visibility modifiers, time of day and weather effects, completely random (with available weather based on map type) for ALL maps. Currently the only one we see the 'random' time of day is River City, we should be seeing this on every map (unless its supposed to be on a celestial body that is tidally locked of course). This not only gives variety, but this makes it so maps aren't always supportive of one specific playstyle.

2) Make those randomizations have an effect on heat. Night is colder (of course) than day, rain will cool down your mech, getting struck by thunder heat spikes you, et cetera.

3) FIX THE ******* ALTERNATE VISION MODES!

4) Rework Ghost Heat. The kinds of builds that GH was made to stifle don't even hold a candle to a lot of the builds we see nowadays ('Meta' hellbringer with heavy lasers, Gauss + ER/H Las, 2 LB-20 + 4 SRMs, etc).

The most fun I've ever had in War Thunder was back when alternate weathers and night battles was actually somewhat common. Nowadays they've massively toned that down due to whiners, and the game has been a massive ball of 'meh' sameness ever since.

And thus my take on all of this: eSports-wannabe = Artificial
