Though they could make it work like the Clan Autocannons but instead of single rounds in a burst, it is a burst of 5 to 10 pellets.

But what people dont realise in that 1 second fire burst several hundred rounds were fired.

A10 Tankbuster nose gun is already implemented in game as the machine gun. Same weight, caliber.

Nope, MGs are usually described as being in the 12.5 to 15mm class.
30mm is ususlly described in the AC/2 clase.
RAC/2 is the perfect standin for the A10s gun.

MGs go up to 20mm (heavy mg) but those are still traditional bullets not HEAP like acs
LBX and ultra 2 go from 20mm to 90
AC/2 goes from 30mm
RAC/2 goes from 20mm up to 50mm
So yes RAC/2 fits well in all but weight.
Side note the gau-8 is half as long as the typical heavy mech and and 1 meter short of the shortest mech in battletech.
Weight wise it is similar to a Battletech mg. But one should also note that MGs in fluff can pivot, track and aim separate of the body that it's mounted on Goliath for example. I would suspect that is part of the weight.
So whatever mechs are using for MGs ..it's not gau-8. They wouldn't have many slots left after mounting it.

I had the same thought, though I can't add new firing mechanics. I ended up creating Gauss rifles with the usual charge, multiple projectiles with a slight spread, and a whole lot of particles.
Yes please haha.
While we're at it let's get even more new weapons in MWO.

Needs to have the spread of MRMs, but apart from that it's looking good.

Not likely given how ridiculous their statements were in that legal doc. Probably got laughed out of court then decided to drop charges out of court.

MG is still in the same class of GAU-8, maybe tweaked for size instead of accuracy because it no longer kills heavy armored vehicles as easily and not regarded as a primary weapon anymore.

It's in the weight class.
But gau-8 is regarded as an autocannon. The MG is regarded as a machine gun akin to anything from 50 Cal's to automatic 20mm grenade launchers. Though technically any HMG (battletech's MG) in real life above 15mm is considered an autocannon.
Digging through it a bit more... Yeah this is closer to BT MG. Probably to HMG for damage/rate. Depleted uranium core. No explosive component. Could have sworn I read that it was 5.1 meters long. The barrels though are 2.3 meters long alone. Keep in mind the shortest battlemech (Firefly) is barely 6.1 meters tall. Timber wolf pre-94 was 11.3 meters (scale model) and after 12.6 meters (MW2 official scale made Canon.) (Mwo it's nearly 15 meters tall).

no. they should work functionally different from MRMs specifically because they arnt MRMs.
HAGs should work more like an LBX that fires in bursts like a UAC. And it should have chargeup like other Gauss weapons.
So a for example a HAG40 would chargeup then fire four LBX10 bursts in rapid succession.

HAGs are not Gauss LBX. Silver Bullet is the official Gauss LBX.

yes they are. they use the cluster hits table just like LBX does. furthermore they do more damage at short range and less damage at long range which implies a cone firing pattern. Just like the one LBX has in MWO.
it the weapon it most resembles in battletech is LBX then by logical extension the weapon it should resemble most in MWO is... LBX.
it certainly resembles LBX more than MRMs.
And silver bullet gauss is basically just the IS version of the HAG. They are both gauss rifles that use the cluster hits table.

The cluster hits table simulates the weapon spread mechanic, it does not mean the weapon actually fires like a shotgun. Every description of HAGs compares to them Rotary Autocannons in terms of how fast they fire smaller caliber rounds. The board game also had them allocate damage into chunks of 5 damage per chunk (which LBX did not do).
