The problem is that there's no way to do a free for all or a grand melee as you can't target your team members so that would make any streaks or missiles a problem to use.

Why would you use streaks in an Urbie? That's also a really dumb weapon to bring to a battle-royale.

I do 16-20 mech FFas regularly and they're a blast.

Well if it can be done I'm all for an Urbie Grand Melee.

If you can find an even number of people, I'll MC it. I'll drop in an Atlas or something, both sides meet in the water side of Forest Colony, stand in a big ring and then I'll count in the fight and then it's everyUrb for themselves. It takes a bit of coordination but it's a lot of fun.

I was looking for that, and couldn't find it.

Or alternately,

Death Blossom. NOT canon, but I wantz it.

Defiance Death Blossom is canon...
as a missile launcher.
So there's that....

Thats another thing that annoys me. The lore puts huge emphasis on weapon brands, to the point where whole variants are made or broken by the brand of their weapons/other gear, yet not a single game, TT or otherwise, reflects this.

Round 1 - "Red vs. Blue" - Stock Urbies - Solaris City

Round 2 - "Officer Reporting" - Each team has a single (stock) K-9, if he goes down the team loses - River City

Round 3 - "Bear hunt!" - 20 Urbies vs. 1 Spirit-Bear (all stock) - Frozen City Classic - It turns out bears don't like being woke from hibernation...

I like those ideas Von. Definitely going to be adding more to the Events. We could turn this into something that's a lot of fun if folks want in!

TT doesn't for simplicity. Design quirks and such tacked in can reflect it better for those detailed. For example the Crusher SH you could roll on the cluster table for lots of 2 damage after making 10 to hit rolls or somesuch (rushing through this post sorry) to replicate it. But that can be a pain in a game that could take an hour or more for a minor skirmish of several minutes.

MW5 like BT from HBS is having some but it's more of a level up system. If you want stop by the BT discussion thread under the MW5 mod plan series of threads. Am working to to put lore friendly variants in as well as a number of things to turn mw5 into more of a BT simulator. Already got a start on AC/20 breakdowns.

I'm in for running an FFA on Friday.

No load out restrictions but be aware you'll have to fight blues at some point.

I have a mic so that will make coordination easy. Just shut the heck up and follow orders. No cheap shots.

I'll try to shake down a code for some mc or two

Unfortunately I work Friday night but if you can get the people for it go for it. I'll look at suggesting some dates for the tournament and stuff here soon.

Could you drop a link? I'm not familiar with the site,

Bt Discussion thread.

Topics that may be of interest:

BT Weapons and Vehicles, a thread run by Karl about recreating Battletech's weapons and vehicles based on real life modern weapons with a lot of 3D models, a fun read that tries to match weapon/vehicle fluff with real life modern weapons (but in so doing, disregarding any ability to match it to Battletech rules).

"You have 5.5 tons," a thread about creating a lore-friendly security mech with completely original weapon systems and concepts using BT rules and then seeing how this modular 15 ton failed Battlemech turned Security Mech performs. (Currently on hold for a little bit).

"Hardpoints in MWO", a new thread made today about whether or not the customization in MWO is possible in Battletech; the answer is yes...but its a whole lot more fleshed out than anyone uninitiated had ever imagined! (Also MW5 documentary video included about how PGI fixed its player slaughtering level creation system and "haters gon' hate" city trashing AI)

"Battletech's build anything rules." A thread made because screw it, lets build the most ridiculous gundam Koniving can think of in Battletech and see what happens....also an invite for "I bet you can't make X in BT" challenges!

And finally, the one I told you about the MW5 Mercs Mod Plan.
Ballistics is the currently active one. This link shortcuts to currently listed variants. Note ranges are not final numbers. The page leading to it though gives a lot of information leading up to that point, though.

The MW5 Mercs Mod Plan will also include several additional threads that are not up yet including
MW5 Mercs Mod Plan Energy (focusing on energy weapon variants)

MW5 Mercs Mod Plan Missiles (focusing on missile weapons [and Mech Mortars])

MW5 Mercs Mod Plan Heat-System (a revamp of the heat system to recreate the fluffed Battletech universe as opposed to the simplified Battletech tabletop)

MW5 Mercs Mod Plan Mechlab & Technicians (the specific lore-heavy overhauls planned for these elements)

MW5 Mercs Mod Plan Equipment (brand name engines, jumpjets, armor, structure, and what it means to you)

MW5 Mercs Mod Plan Mech Specifics and Aces (specific ideas of how to incorporate the unique identities of Battlemechs both variants and sub-variants, for example there's two kinds of Catapults stilted and shunted... there's two lines of Hunchback 4G-and-variants that are distinct from each other in everyway from actual speeds with the same engines, the drum on the back, to what can and can't be installed... one is the original Komiyaba Type VII chassis, and the other is the Kali-Yama built remake using the Crucis Type V chassis and termed 'classic', which is physically just a little larger and designed to be completely incompatible with refit kits for the Komiyaba Type VII specifically to make sure you have to buy factory made variants from Kali-Yama... its as if Microsoft remade the Playstation 2 but deliberately made it incompatible with anything to do with the PS2 so that you'd have to buy it all over again).

MW5 Mercs Mod Fantasies (a list of **** I wish I could do but simply don't have enough knowledge/skill to actually put it into the game by myself that maybe someone else could. Such as tying a key to bring the shield arm forward, or being able to push Q or E to raise the left or right arm up to eye level for a shot to pull off over-the-wall shooting rather than from the hip. Prone/Hulldown positions. Melee. Weapon jettisoning. Ability to drive tanks / leave mech during mission / Etc.)..

Clanners…

Did you just imply that clanners would say no to a duel when their culture is built around duels so much that they have built entire 'mech chassis dedicated to the act?

Yes. Because they cannot best the Urbie.

I'm looking at scheduling this for a couple weeks out on a Saturday. I'm putting together event lists and sign ups. I'll post it up soon and start taking sign ups for the events!
