Hellfire Appreciation

The obvious builds are something like HLF-A1 or HLF-A2 and I'm having a ton of fun with these. Currently running the A1 variant with an LBX instead of the UAC but gonna swap to the UAC soon.
Now, it isn't mastered (I'm trying to avoid using my HSP just to see how it feels to actually level a mech nowadays) so there's still plenty of room for improvement on that end but its been a relatively potent skirmisher that can dish out some serious damage. Granted, the hitboxes are pretty bad so I'm really looking forward to getting some points invested into survivability. Still, as a very mobile splat platform this thing feels really good to pilot.
Doesn't seem like these get a lot of love in game? Any one else a fan of this mech?

I am using the classic UAC/20 + 5xERML, but i am going to try some different loadouts. I have not completely skilled it yet. It is, indeed, very squishy and i am goging to invest in the survival skill node a lot.
It is a very solid 60 tons mech in my opinion, but i perform better in my two vulture chassis (the prime and Revenant).
Anyway, has you have stated, they are not very common and need some love =)

I'm considering the Void aswell, 5 ERML and a UAC20 must work pretty well.

All about the MASC, it definitely sets it apart from the other mechs in the same class. Not sure I agree with it being tonnage starved though since it gets 30.5 tons (assuming FF and Endo) of pod space with full armor, an XL280 (for 75.6 kph) and MASC. Thats kind of up to preferences in relation to available hard points, so it depends how you like to build your mechs.

This was my issue with the mech. Being a clan Battlemech I figured I could do some fun things with it like I could with an Orion IIC. Nope. Too many of the variants stick you with a low engine cap, and its overall durability is garbage. It can pack a great loadout for its tonnage but I found that either the Huntsman or the Mad Dog simply let me stay in the game longer. For some odd reason the Ebon Jaguar seems to hold up longer as well, even though it doesn't have any durability quirks either.

It suffers from big ST syndrome like the Mad Dog but doesn't get anything to help offset its poor geometry.

Clan Battlemech with a bunch of energy hardpoints, that's why. PGI still thinks laser vomit is the end-all-be-all meta.

Oh PGI... I mean, ya, laser vomit is still pretty good but almost all of the energy hardpoints on the Hellfire are in the arms making hill peeking pretty inefficient. I suppose it could side peek but then its only using half of its firepower.
Come on PGI, give it some armor quirks!

I've only run it a couple times so far, but it's been pretty good. Hitboxes may be crap, but the hardpoints are solid and having MASC with a cool-running brawl alpha is very fun.

Eh, I don't really have a buildup of clan engines so I've stuck with the default XL300 (81 kph default, 101.something kph in sprint).

Hmmm, trading artemis on the SRMs for small pulse lasers... very interesting will have to give that build a go.

Ya, that will get in the way and it does take up an extra 1.5 tons versus the XL280;
