It's sad to see the Mad Cat, one of the most iconic mechs in Mechwarrior be in such a sad state these days.

At 75 tons, most of the effective builds on it can be placed on a mech 10 tons lighter, (HBR, EBJ, LBK), and is simply outclassed by the Orion IIC and NTG in it's own weight class.

How about giving the mech a thorough pass to bring it back into usefulness?

• Reconsider side torso armor, especially on missile builds where the mickey mouse ears are present.

• Too many slots tied up with structure?

• Introduce a variant with right side high mounted laser torso?

• Consider a variant with +1 Large laser for ghost heat?

Just spitballing here, I miss seeing Timbers, would like to see more of them.

I feel like the Timberwolf, along with the Atlas are probably MW's most iconic mechs.

They don't have to be Tier 0 meta, but it would be nice to see them be up there.

I agree that the Timby needs some love. Maybe undo some of the agility nerfs over the years?

Bump Timby needs luv, esp when both lrmboats, direct fire players, snipers and brawl all agrees timby needs a buff!

I think the big side Torsos with the missile "ears" are a weak point. A moderate armor quirk (pls no structure quirks… structure is nothing) for the side torsos could be usefull.

It's currently more a waste of space, especially in faction. No need to take it with Onion and Night Gyr.

Any of you folks with direct PGI contact know if Chris’s still holds the opinion that the Timber being an over performer/top performer (that was Chris’s assertion last year at about this time)? Maybe some competitive level folks could send him a request for a review of the game data or something? Maybe even send him some tweets suggestive of some possible agility buffs?

I'm with you. It needs:

- (hefty) increased agility (hell, it has an 375 xl engine, thats not much less than the 390 engine like the Linebacker has and that mech plays like a light mech agility-wise)

- armor quirks on sidetorsos(+10 to 15) and center torso(+10 to 15) (yes even that, Timber Wolf is very easy to ct-core)

I agree, I like the Timber Wolf because it's so iconic. But right now it just feels very squishy. It's a very large and easy to hit target, it's arms don't shield worth a damn, and it has a perfectly flat rear torso with a freaking "x marks the spot" door for it's rear CT.

Needs some love.

The Mech definitely deserves a massive agility buff. That alone would make it worthwhile.

What could be a possible fix is having the missile pods as independent components.

This way you can lose your missiles but your side torsos stay intact.

Equip ST with missile launchers
Fail to put them in.
Profit min/max cheese.

(Setting a condition for that bonus would be good; also all for getting agility back).

As an IS pilot for most of my time, i'd also really like to see some love for the timby...
These MWO days with all those high alphas and assaults who agile like mediums... why not
Make the timby "great again" and revert all the s.hit he suffered?!

Als the night gyrs agility could need a buff!

Yes please my main mech needs it so badly. Also Del it problem is not just it so big it just a moving target.
