It's a Special variant (Loyalty in this case; could also be Founder's or one or two other options) with a 30% c-bill bonus. I believe the other icons would be for Champions and Heroes.

Cool, thanks! I was aware of the C and H for champion and hero, but this one was bugging me.

Founders will have a (F) on the end of the mech designation.

If you see one with a "G", kill it immediately even though the mech is on your team.
