the reason mechs lock is to incentivize you to rejoin the game you disconnected from rather than joining a new game

IIRC the lockout feature existed for at least a good year or two before the reconnect ability was added?

I don't want to wait for matches to finish anymore. Too many Mech Racers and very few Mech Warriors around. When I get killed, I don't want to wait for a stealth light mech to do the usual 5 minute cameo.

It's called Quick Play, isn't it? What's Quick about waiting to get into a new a match after you're killed, IF you have to wait for it to finish?


You dont' want that, people will rage quit games if they get a map they dont' like. Let them know that they can rage quit and immediately get their mech back, and drop again, is bad.

This is common in FPS games such as Apex and BO4

so? why does that matter? one of the main reasons to not remove the lockout feature NOW is because it helps encourage people to reconnect from games theyve disconnected from.

yes the lockout feature was originally added for repair/rearm. but repair/rearm is gone now. that doesnt mean the lockout feature doesnt still have value as an incentive for people to rejoin games after disconnect. Thats why it shouldnt be removed.

the 2 minute time limit to reconnect is stupid though. PGI needs to get rid of that. if you reconnect at all you should still get a partial reward. because anyone who reconnects from a disconnect means they didnt intentionally disconnect in the first place. And in fact it was probably PGI's fault they disconnected because their crappy game crashes so often; punishing players for your own game's instability is silly.

PGI really doesnt reason things out. They need to punish the people that intentionally disconnect and dont reconnect. Not punish the people that do reconnect after accidently disconnecting.

Mostly agree. The 2mins reconnect rule needs to go. In addition, pilot (player) should not be able to start a new game with another mech until their mech is killed (or the game ends), that should cure intentional disconnect and reduce the harm caused by crash of the game.
