People play more aggressive and have better instincts on when to press their advantage which leads to faster snowballs. In lower tier games players are a little slower and a little more indecisive which gives the other team the space to close the gap.
Just do your best, try to keep improving, and try not to fixate on the inadequacies of your PUGs. Their performance is mostly of out of your control anyway unless you want to drop call.

You have reached the Sea of Jade, the final layer of hell, where nothing ever changes, and everyone knows best.

...and then there are teams full of ASSaults. Their angst is palpabel and they wouldn't move out of their hiding hole at all cost. This leads to the butchery of lights (if there are even some in the match

I had to double check to see if you were in my last game!

just experiment.
its fine even in tier 1. i see alot of better players fail (including me many times), there are so many ways to influence a game than just adding numbers.

making half a team chasing a squirrel is worth ALOT for example.
just do it!

Well, that's good to hear. I'm on the cusp of T1, and while I'm still getting stomps and rolls like everyone else, I also participate in plenty of tight matches that get my blood pumping, win or lose. Sentiments like the OP's worry me.
I think I'm one of those players that doesn't belong in T1, but I hope it doesn't suck.

Imbalanced matches don't cause stomps. There's an argument to be made that they're correlated but the relationship isn't causal. Stomps are caused by snowball effect. And when both teams start with such limited and non-renewable resources, the snowball effect is ridiculous. If differences in skill level caused stomps, there wouldn't be many stomps in the world championships. And the stompers and stompees keep alternating too.
Stomps happen when one team, by accident or design, is able to punish early mistakes from the other team. That's why close matches are more rare. Either nobody made a mistake throughout the match or neither team is good enough to roll an advantage into a win. That's one reason why close matches are more common in the lower tiers where it's mostly tater on tater action.
