Optical obscuration, sound irritation, screenshake, dps

so...yea where are they not absolutely annoyingly OP versus other weapons like gauss and PPCs or large lasers (ok maybe not all large lasers)

But generaly anybody and their grandma uses ACs and gets at least decent results (even me after 075L jaegermeister)

So PGI WTF

Racs is the "tick people off" weapon and sound bug. Although some weapons are not doing their jobs, as you would think. Gauss is to push your torso hard, depending where you getting hit. PPCs of any kind is to effect your computer components. These are not doing of it. Other weapons are doing their job, but wow. So, in a way. MWO pilots are having it very easy.

He's not entirely wrong, is he? I mean, I don't particularly agree with the "optical obscuration, sound irritation, screenshake" bit, but Assaults that can boat a sufficient amount of dakka are pretty darn good right now due to their DPS. Granted, it's far less pronounced on Heavies and below for obvious reasons, but ACs of various flavours are extremely prevalent as you go up in tonnage.

This is because your ability to boat lasers is limited by the number of DHS you can cram in. Since assults do not get more crit slots than a 20 tonner, they simply cannot cool down lasers better than heavy mechs that are already maxed out. The only way for assults to significantly increase their damage output is to include dakka or missiles in the build where the limiting factor tends to be tonnage (and number of hardpoints).
