Ever catch yourself in a Dual or Triple AMS mech and found that in the end of the match your AMS ammo is almost depleted. Your score looks depleted of points as well. Despite the constant missile bombardments your system prevented from damaging your team and yourself.

What would happen if the AMS received a c-bill bonus according to how many missiles it shoots down. This could encourage players to use an AMS more often. Thus creating a reward for investing tonnage for the AMS and the ammo.


What if they added laser AMS that adds heat to the players mech, as if firing a weapon its self. Perhaps make the Laser AMS like a tiny point defense pulse laser, 3 round burst/ per 0.5 sec at 180m 1 heat (or lower) per shot, and around 2, maybe 2.5 tons or 1.5 tons so it can fit on the Locust. To balance with ammo related AMS. Or what ever setup would be best to balance it with ammo related AMS.
The Laser AMS was in MW4 and cost 1.5 tons with heat build up in that game.
Perhaps add optional colors to these lasers. That could be cool and it could be used as counter intelligence to confuse the enemy of what you have equipped.

It probably does not seem balanced to have Laser AMS but it was apart of MW4 and, would still be way awesome to have it. I would like to give the idea a try on test server

So I checked on LAMS and MW4 had Laser AMS. I edited my post to reflect this. That version was a clan LAMS, but we could probably have a I.S. Laser AMS to balance it on both sides.

I've seen a few posts about this and I keep agreeing. It doesn't have to be a massive c-bill earner either. Just getting something like 100 c-bills per missile would be awesome!

According to this post, 1 ton of ammo can destroy roughly 100 missiles so @ 100 c-bills per missile you're looking at about 10k c-bills per ton (if it's all used up). Again, not a massive money maker, but you're still contributing to the fight. Plus, as has been mentioned before, you get bonuses for NARC/TAG, so why not get bonuses for defending your team?

In his last Steam F2P vid, Kanajashi mentioned that Russ has giving rewards for AMS usage top-priority.
Don´t have a source myself, though.

Because the main thing the game needs right now is more reasons to just use laser alpha strikes...

Ah sounds like you want to know the lore...
LAMS was invented by the clans and they were using them by 3048 so of course it was in MW4.
Inner Sphere didn't get it until 3059, stolen tech from clans that they got working with inner tech/mechs.
MWO seems to be currently set around 3053, so I agree clan mechs should have LAMS, but Inner should not have it for awhile.


PS.
Also I believe LAMS Required around 5 extra heat sinks per LAMS.
And there was a very very small chance the laser beam could destroy all the missiles that were shot in 1 turn by a mech but that was pen and paper days.

regarding laser AMS we are missing the answer "NO, it is not Level 2 tech". Laser AMS does not Sound cool to me. it sounds hot to me. literally, as in heat sinks.

There is a lot of content missing from the game that could be explored. Battletech does have a vast lore.

the reward should be for every teammate you protect from missles with it, and a smaller bonus for yourself getting protected.

thelaser ams, yes, but 2-2.5 tons and make it justifiably better, especially against streaks. the laser ams needs to weigh more to account for it not having ammo explosions, and the improved performance. that said i dont think it needs to cause heat. maybe it works same heat scale as lava does, which heats you up to 90 degrees then stops effecting your heat. for the ams that number should be 10%, if it effects you at all, which im really not sure it should effect your heat at all.

Every time I see a good and simple suggestion from a YEAR ago isn't being implemented, I doubt the purpose of this forum section.
Anyway, my vote goes for "yes" on rewards. If not straight up C-bills then at least tell us how many actual missiles were shot down.
