Since I have been back I have YET to see this used. With the exception of multi-part events.

It's actually often used when there's one large event that is a week long and is split into 7 smaller events, one for each day. For example, if the first day has just started you will see the other 6 days in the "future events" category.

Yeah, sometimes I run through text without noticing some details. You are actually right, since I haven't seen it get used anywhere apart from multi part events, so maybe it was made exclusively for them.
