The recent poll that showed up in suggestions got me thinking.

I have nearly 100 'mechs. I barely use most of them any more, except when I need to for an event, etc. I've even sold a few off for quick C-bills... but I look at my 'mechs and feel like I just don't get much use out of most of them.

I wish I could rent them out ;)

But in all seriousness... for those who have a lot of 'mechs, how many of them get used regularly?

I have ~150 mechs and probably only 20 or so get used regularly.

138 mechs.

I swap around in group drops so I used a lot of different mechs at different times.

Have 20 tons available? I'll step up to an 80 tonner
Have -5 tons? I'll drop from a 65 to a 60 tonner.

Are we running all LRM/ATMs? I have a couple of those.

Are we running all dakka? I have plenty of those

Laser vomit party? I'm down.

Crab rush? I'm in

ASN rush? I'm in

BSW rush? Heck yeah I'm in.

I've played over 10,000 matches.

I own 40-50 colors
Have lots of camos
200+ standing items
50 or so hanging items
80 or so warhorns.

Steam says I've put 4000 hours in since it launched on Steam and I started using it from Steam. That doesn't count any of the pre Steam games.

230-something here. I gave up trying to be serious about every single one ages ago, and I still have a pile of 'Mechs I haven't dropped in once. Mostly, they're there in case I ever feel like some variety; I try to kit out each example of a chassis differently, except where I've found a build I really love and want a duplicate of it. It's nice to have options, my preferences shift every now and again, and I have a build for almost any occasion. Some of them are crap, some of them are unproven experiments, but I rarely sell or strip anything. It took me a long time to get to a point where I wasn't constantly swapping engines around, and it's nice to finally be able to scroll through pages and pages of 'Mechs without seeing a single "invalid" tag.

There are also the old favorites, 'Mechs I used to main but have more or less moved on from, but which I like to keep ready and waiting just in case I decide to revisit them, like the CN9-AH, HBK-4G, PNT-10K, UM-R63, and COM-TDK.

I'm still constantly spacepoor because I'm often too lazy to alt+tab to go use MechDB, and just buy new components to play around in mechlab instead.

I also have a significant and growing stable of troll 'Mechs, built on variants which I either couldn't figure out what to do with, or already had something they were completely redundant to. A small handful exist just for their trolling potential, like my RVN-4X and RVN-H, both of which were bought exclusively to run AC20 on and have never carried anything else, or my set of bone stock Urbies (only the cbill-purchaseable ones though), or the Incubus which I bought because it had high shoulder ballistics to run silly dakka and LBX trolls on.

Really, the only niche I don't have filled right now is a streakboat. I only build them out if I'm doing a group troll with someone or if there's an event with locking missile or TAG bonuses since those are quicker to grind out with streaks. They just feel so... dirty. I'd feel bad about my life choices if I had one sitting around permanently, staring at me from its dusty corner of the mechbay as if to say "you know what you did."

Past few months I think I've mainly played MAD-IIC-D. My W/L has significantly increased because of that. Or many good players are playing very much less.

Previously when I played more, I've had maybe about 10 mechs I mainly play, with little bit of others. I think I have like 150-170 mechs, I got lots of MC and cbills too, haven't bothered to much get more mechs for quite long. Even less than buying mechs, I've been extremely lazy to reconfigure any of them for long time.

I have around 350.

I use around 50-60 regularly. I might not use one for a few weeks here/there but I will use it. Mainly due to Comp play and different league rules/mechs etc. Keeps the game fresh for me given QP is just mindless rotations and FP is hard to get games in my regular timezone.

I have *boots up MWO*... 488 mechs *makes whalesounds* I kinda feel that harpoon in my back now, yeah..
So many mechs, so little time, so many messed up configurations since before the skill tree. And so many other games to spend time on like Deep Rock Galactic, Battletech, Stellaris.... REAL LIFE, inkluding work and such, you know..

Cant wait for mech warrior 5 and the challenge with a more restrictive loadout and uniqness among mech variants.

In MWO, if you bring bracket builds ( some which are in l33t terms, USELESS ) or "certain" builds. The haters will shame you and froathe like rabid lunatics, killing the joy of stompy combat. Even if you DONT stand back a kilometer and drinking coffee, lobbing missiles from afar... passively... ( maybe I do will take out a few annoying builds to piss off the entitled ones, would be fun *cruel grin*)
Oh and the NASCAR... and the lack of proper depth to CW and not least NO FFA Solaris! Thats the worst kicker!

587 unique 'Mechs, currently grinding 80, rest mastered. For many years the Grind has been the game for me, an hour every weekday, more on weekends just playing til first victory of the day on 3-5 chassis til I reach 91/91. I have 3,307,110 GXP as I never use it, always grind the long way. Aside from challenges I never play a mastered 'Mech.

Definitely not opposed to better XP grind, but I seriously wonder what I'd do if all I had to play was 'Mechs I've mastered...

298 mechs. Most in mech packs -

Most of which I regret. I won't be buying any more unless after release they turn out to be good mechs.

I would buy more mech packs if it wasn't 75% likely that 0-1 of the variants in the whole pack are... not terrible. I'd be okay with 'decent'. Just they tend to be terrible, almost all terrible. I get not wanting to create power creep but there's a good sized gap between 'top meta' and 'pretty much certain to lose against anything but a terribad in a potato'.

Add an attrition timer to mechs involved in a faction loss. To avoid using trial mechs successful pilots would need to dip into their secondary and tertiary tiers of mechs to maintain the momentum in an offensive.

Alternatively (severely)incentivize faction specifics mechs so that a Capellan Vindicator is chosen over a Crab or Bushwacker. Every mech has some degree of faction affinity. The grind must be perpetual and purposeful. Pokemech can serve a greater meta and keep the lights on now that the mechpack model is dead.
