Since the outlook is not encouraging, let's think about fun things that could easily happen to make the next 18 or so months more enjoyable.


Follow through on Engine Desync
Lots of heavies and assaults that still handle very, very poorly.
It would be great to follow through with a mech by mech evaluation as was promised at the time.

Otherwise to reduce time, just give a mobility boost weighted by tonnage for 60 to 100 tons. Maybe start at 8% boost for 100 tonners and reduced by 1% per each 5 tons. 7% for 95, 6% for 90, ...


Repeal Side Torso Suicide
Change this back and instead add positive quirks to Standard Engines and IS XL engines.
Mobility and/or speed boosts for standard engines.
Talking 1 to 5% mobility, yaw, pitch, turning, twisting speed and/or 1 to 2% speed boost.
Either +5 structure for Side Torsos or mobility boost (NOT speed).


Unlock heat sinks
Seems like balanced has shifted substantially since ERML could reach to 800 meters and had damage to heat ratios well above 1.0.
Having something that made mech building interesting would be much appreciated and would give certain mechs (Warhawk) some much needed help in being viable.


Please post similar easy ideas.

Not ideas to rework Solaris to include Free For All Mode. Anything that would make Russ say, "Just too much work."
But maybe moving all the Assaults into Division 1, Heavies into Division 2, Mediums into Division 3, Lights into Division 4 and no Divisions 5, 6, and 7...

Revert the desync.
Revert the C-XL/Light engine changes.
Remove ghost heat.
Swap back to tabletop balance.
Give some of the underpowered IS mechs better quirks to compensate.

I actually think the game is pretty well balanced right now. Maybe IS ERPPCs, Light Gauss Rifles, and IS/Clan SPLs need a small buff, but nothing major.

I think any major "dump ghost heat" changes would be a huge overraction.

They would be much better served by making matchmaker changes, like allowing solo players to drop in group queue if they want. That one tweak could greatly reduce group queue wait times and keep group queue viable for much longer.

My ideal would be an opt-in checkbox that lets you be eligible to drop either in group queue or solo queue any time you hit the quick play button.

The side torso penalties are good, although perhaps a bit too high. I would support a 40% to 30% drop or 60% to 45% or whatever the actual # is...but no more.

The big thing for QP is matchmaker fixes.

I perfer more game modes that focuson objectives than kills. Let a qp have skrimish, and a queue for conquest, incursion and other teamwork and no not FW that thing lost any meaning when no one allow to be their own independent faction to represent.

Holy crap no. What would you swap ghost heat with? We'd be back to Hawken levels of TTK. My venerable gigantic Atlas, hundreds of years old, survivor of thousands of battles, rounds a corner and evaporates when a Nova sneezes at it.

Also, we tried tabletop balance waaaaay back in closed beta. It was piping hot garbage.

I'm down for the XL/Light engine changes though.

ABSURD THINGS to be Fixed:

1) Reducing ClanXL e IS LFE Penalties (One Mech that lose one ST have to be able to sustain half it's firepower)

2) Agility Boost especially for Assaults (any Base acceleration rate below 20kph/s, any Base turn rate below 40°/s,
any Base Yaw angle lower than 75°, any Base Pitch angle lower than 20° are just garbage) and consequentially
Boost Skill tree gains (Lower Base values needs higher % Gains to be worth investing in to them)

3) Revision of absurd Hardpont placement for some Chassis (examples: ATLAS Arms Energy placed sequentially on Top
forearm top, internal and external; BANSHEE HERO Arms Energy placement on Forearm Top or Internal;
and Generally allow true sequential weapon placement starting from the higher available position without being forced
to put bigger weapons on lower positions.

4) Zero PPC Damage under 90m -> Should be fair to have Half Damage under 90m; maybe same thing for LRM!

5) Lowering UAC/RACS Jam times


OTHER BASE TECH TWEAKS

1) Increase Ballistics Velocity especially for AC20/UAC20

2) Lower RAC5 Heat and Jam time

3) Lower IS MPL/LPL Heat and revert back LPL to 11dmg

4) Lower IS/Clan ErPPC Heat

5) Light PPC ghost at 5

6) Lower further Standard AC Cooldowns over UAC

7) Remove IS AC/UAC ghost penalties

8) Lower MG and HMG Crits

9) Lower LBX Spread

10) Lower a bit Clan Lasers Heat

11) Lower Snub Nose PPC Heat

12 ) Lower SRM2 Heat

13) Lower LAMS Heat

14) Differentiate MRM Cooldowns and Lower the Spread

15) Reduce a bit IS/Clan ErLL Heat

16) Reduce weights for Targeting Computers

17) Expand Command Consolle Functionalities

18) Allow equipment of IS Single and DHS simultaneously and boost dissipation while submerged in water

19) Allow the charge of 4 Light Gauss simultaneously

20) Boost Flamer Damage and Range but Lower Maximum Heat to 70% heatscale

21) Reduce ARTEMIS weight to 0,5t for each launcher

22) Revert back Weapon Lock assistance Angle or boost it by 50%


GENERAL QUIRKS REVISION starting from still underperforming Chassis


There is a lot to do for improving the game for CHEAP! It's just a matter of will...

I have an idea. How about they stop removing me from the house I have pledged loyalty to? What is this... the third or fourth time they have kicked me out of my own house over the years? That is the opposite of fun. If I want to break faith with a loyalty pledge, it should be up to me. Not some sql script or DB trigger.

Absofreaking Not, big NO

Bring back guass/ppc poptart. We have the Vapour Eagle popping up dumping out insane damage and this seems to fine with everyone as long as PGI is doing the aiming. There's no reason in this current state, old poptarting could be seen as game breaking.
