I'm currently trying get a good build going for the Warhammer 9D(s). I've played a few matches and it's going well.

The build that I have right now is WHM-9D(S)

I want to switch the ML with ERML but only after I get a decent amount of cooling from skill nodes. The final build that I want is something like this WHM-9D(S)

So, the question is Heat Gen. nodes and Heat Containment. I definitely want the Heat Gen. nodes. As many as I can get. but like always, I want some survivability as well as Consumables, Radar Dep. and Cool Runs.

The skill tree site isn't creating a code to share that here but I have the MWO code if anyone wants to take a closer look at it here https://kitlaan.gitlab.io/mwoskill/

Code : a5f598007600dde56de5b3cff7f00000000000000e86f663e21c3a0222018

So, basically, what I want to know is whether that is the best possible balance in getting the heat under control while adding survivability or is there something else that I can do.

It's pretty good. I'd say that you want to make use of buffing structure through the survival tree on the Whammy due to it's quirks, but I never seem to find that much of a return on investment for structure as it tends to scream game over once a component is open anyway. Left it untouched anyway, though i'd prob stack armour myself. Just personal preference.

I made a slight alteration to your tree and picked up 4 extra heat gen nodes to get you from -6.75% heat to -9.75 at the cost of one of your laser duration nodes (you're using IS vom, which doesn't benefit quite as much as Clam) and one radar derp node (i've experimented with 3 vs 2 and haven't noticed a huge difference). Picked up an extra containment node too.

I'd say a lot rides on your typical engagement ranges. If you often find yourself within normal MLAS range, then they're much better for overall DPS compared to ER's. If you find yourself over ideal range, the ER's sync very well with your LPLs at the cost of DPS. Even with the extra heat nodes, you'll run hotter.

Edit:
ARGH, so it's not exporting the right code for some reason.

Here's the tree:

Thank you. I ultimately want to engage at around 400m but until then, I'll stick with ML and faster running speed for that. Once I get enough cooling, I'll switch to ERML and a lower engine and see how that goes. If not, I think the Range nodes will help in dealing good damage with ML even at around 350m I think.

And yes, that site doesn't export the net link but we can get the MWO code thankfully. Posted Image
