Since we don't have any of these threads yet, here is the obligatory one.

I purchased the basic pack and hero but I haven't bothered to use them yet so I'll refrain from commenting.

Looks like a Kintaro with even better missiles. Love the Kintaro and will probably love the Dervish.

The variant that can mount 6 PPCs looks good for lols.

Just have to wait until it comes out for cbills.

Ran the 8xSrm4 Frenzy once and had fun. Unskilled so heat was a little high, as expected but it was workable. Also ran a 2xMRM40 build on the 6M, fun but mostly a joke and will switch to dual 30s. Last build was 4xASrm6 with 4xersl and that also worked pretty well.

So far definitely enjoying them

Frenzy is a murder boat, so much fun. Plus those bay doors are a nice touch for mitigating damage from shots of opportunity as you weave into position. I run mine with an XL and it does great, even without much SP invested.

Watched the sean lang preview and what was interesting to me was they gave it great mobility that is only slightly off from the most maneuverable in class, Wolverine. JJ's, high engine cap and so far even though it's torso's are all well defined, it has a tight compact profile.

Am waiting a little bit but considering basic pack with hero for cqc builds.

the mechpak has landed with all 7 variants. Later today I'll hop in one. Problem is how to choose which one! Several variants look really good.
I think I'll play it safe with 2 x MRM20's in the torso and 4 ML on the arms.....and a fast XL engine....but XL isn't quite playing it safe

Its not that I would slap money down for the Mech. Its an ok mech and kinda fun but just that fun. No meta, I'd wait for it to be sold for c-bills, and the Quirks are kinda like they are throwing darts on a dart board to see what quirks it gets. There are better mechs than the Dervish and i'd wait till later.

I saw a bunch running around last night. Almost all were SRM or Streak builds. One MRM that was moderately effective. Zero LRMs, which is a shame, because that is the load-out that the mech was designed for. You can thank PGI and all the LRM haters for the flop that is the Dervish.

I mean it's a missile based mech so there are 4 options or combinations of those options. Did see a few running around last night, more than I expected so I wouldn't consider it a flop at all, and though there seems to be a higher proportion of CQC builds there was at least one person playing with LRMs on the 6MR.

A flop? My Frenzy is unskilled and sitting on 5/7 wins and 12 kills to 3 deaths. Very early yes, but all my other unskilled 'Mechs didn't reach a good win/kill rate until they were skilled up.

I'm sure things will stabilize and I'll end up with more reasonable stats, last night the match maker kept putting me on teams with capable players against reds with poor map awareness, so it was easy to flank them.

I'm running 4 srm 6, 4 srm 2, with an XL 275 or 280 I think, 3 jump jets and 4 heatsinks and the rest in ammo. I think with SP spent on ammo capacity I can drop a ton and maybe upgrade the engine.

I don't know how the other variants are, but they seem like garbage.

4xSRM6 and 4xSRM2 seems like an interesting option versus the 8xSRM4. Gonna have to try that config as well.

It's the same damage but trades accuracy for heat efficiency, I might switch to SRM 4 once I have some heat nodes unlocked. As it stands that 68.8 damage looks mental on paper but it's a sandblaster passed point blank range. I also want to try streaks but I don't think it will be better than the Pakhet at that, maybe the base variant though...

It's not. Was running a streak Dervish last night. She's still fun to play. But the Pakhet is better at the job. Can still come in handy when you want a medium streak boat and must play IS.

6M with 2 MRM 30's and an XL is a lot of fun! Hits hard, maneuverable, and surprisingly tanky. And this was unskilled. Saw TTB running the same thing so this is probably the best build for this version.

Overall not OP but does everything you want a medium to do. I can't wait to play the other variants.

Kub. If your mech( s ) of choice can have ECM, slap that on. However if you are all alone, far from the nascarmob mayhem by a streaker and he have BAP installed... auch.

As I predicted, things balanced out last night as I ended up with team after team of spectacularly inept players. I think the icing on the poo cake was when our team rushed sideways on HPG at the start, and attempted to Nascar along the outer wall. We got shot from the centre position obviously. I did warn our team what would happen, but they were spurred on by an early couple of kills of enemy players caught off guard by our sheer stupidity. Luckily the next game was the same potatoes on the enemy team, so I got a bit of payback. K/dr still over 3, though. She's a beauty.
