Hey all. Just completed a quick playthrough of MW2:GBL in about 2 hours or so.
Contains explicit language and self deprecation.

While this doesn't contain the blood name trials I plan on doing another run with that in mind sometime in the future.

are you running it on a nostalgia rig or in mechvm (which works up to windows 7) or some other vm. i have it running in mech vm and it looks pretty good. i used an image of an old titanium cd. runs ant 640x480 the textures even work. and im running it with first order controls (frictioned stick with no recenter) too so its kind of unique among games. even supports head tracking with a stack of scripts and virtual joysticks to make it work.

This is MechVM and is using the DOS version of Ghost Bear's Legacy. The Thun level of the Titanium edition has a game breaking bug that may not allow the player to advance past it as well as a few other engine bugs that I wished to avoid.

Gutted can't make in run on win10.
Win7 would be nice to get back, but i don't have ghost bear legacy expansion.
I did like watching playthorughs though.

How did you kill a warhawk in seconds? They used to take me many minutes.

Looking back at the footage I think I got lucky and hit the cockpit. If I hadn't done that I might have failed that mission.

good to know. i only play when i need to use my 3d printer and have a large print that will take a few hours. i don't like leaving the machine unattended. and since its hooked up to a win7 machine i usually whip out mech2/3/4 while i wait.

Mechwarrior 2 can be a bit of mess version wise. There just isn't a set of releases that performs consistently enough for me to declare it the best.

The Titanium edition of Mercenaries is generally considered the best and least buggy even if the soundtrack is oddly truncated. The DOS version of Mercs is essentially unplayable as it has the notorious ghost weight bug where you mech's weight increases whenever you repair a damaged component, generating duplicate and irremovable components. It can be neat to abuse the bug by running a Jenner with 12 LRM20s but once it starts you are no longer able to customize your mechs at all.

Basically because of the limited disc space every release of the game had to choose between variety of units, environment detail, sound quality, or solid bug fixes but couldn't have all at once.

The other versions of Titanium for 2 and GBL usually remove most of the soundtrack and terrain geometry to add textures and little else, unfortunately.

i just used titanium because its the version i had. but the titanium discs all came with 2 editions of the game, one works better than the other. you can get the accelerated version to work with a glide wrapper, but somewhere along the line i forgot how to do that, there was a specific wrapper and version that worked an no others.
