Greetings All,
When you cause ammo to cook off and the enemy mech dies or a component get destroyed, you get credit for it even if you died before they did, but I was wondering when ammo cooks off if none of the above happens, but damage still occurs, (like destruction of a HS), do you get credit for that? Or is credit only given when death/component happens.
Just wondering....
Thanks for any help!

Equipment like heat sinks, weapons and what not do not give damage. Equipment has hit points but not HP that contributes to end of match damage dealt. You do not get a reward or number for equipment destroyed end of a match screen.
Only armour and structure count for end of game damage. Same as a component (Leg, arm, side torso). They count as component destructions.

Nothing you've done or your team did after you died counts towards your exp, credits or score.
That is why surviving to the end yields a lot even if you barely did anything but if you've done the most but died among the first you get squat sht.

If am I correct crit hits also counts as damage. So if you destroy or hit component before torso or arm destruction you also get component damage count to structure and armor HP counts. It is noticeable when use high critting weaponry like machine guns or LBX.

Agreed. 100% incorrect that statement was.
I wish people would stop posting incorrect rubbish in New Player Help and go by the forums description:

Yes... Unless it gets you a kill. Then you get no dmg but still get a kill credit. Or assist credit.

I hope your false is not false, cuzz I've seen my arty drops do damage but were not counted for endgame tally.
You should...
If strikes don't count after you died, I've never heard of it before.
Now the common belief around here was that when you LEFT a match before the end of the match (instead of spectating), you didn't get any additional rewards paid out past the point where you left the game. That belief was around for several years. I forgot now whether that was finally debunked or not, but I almost always watch to see what happens.
Edit: Oh and after the match ends but before going to the EOR screen, yes, all damage is negated. So if you drop an arty strike at the end, it will shake the screen and explode, but have no effect. That's the only instance I know of for sure.
