Occasionally I hear players refer to some position by a nickname ("meet up at the saddle," etc.) Is there a reference tool for these nicknames? Are there a lot of them? Such nicknames can be very useful. In the 3rd ACR, we had maps of the National Training Center (NTC) with key terrain features highlighted and labeled with their nicknames (Crash Hill, the Washboard, Iron Triangle, etc.) It made things a lot clearer when calling out locations in a fast moving battle. Is something like that available for MWO maps?

They're things you'll pick up as you play the maps. Some common ones:
Crimson Strait: "Saddle" is the mountain pass at grid E6; "Platform" is E5/F5; "Tunnel" is under D5.
River City: "Citadel" is the large structure in G6; "Airfield" is... well, the airfield, but folks usually mean the E7 grid specifically; "Upper City" is the high ground in E5.
Grim Plexus: "Gas Station" refers to the structures in G6.
Tourmaline Desert: "Death Valley" is the low ground in F6/F7, so named because teams headed through there tend to stall out and get murdered. "Stage" refers to the high-ground positions along the border of E5/E6 and the north side of E5.
Some locations have ended up with multiple common nicknames, too- the central mountain at H9/10 and I9/10 on Alpine Peaks, for example, has variously been called "Mount Tryhard," "Mount Campmore," or just "Hill"... among other things.
I don't know if anybody's gone to the trouble of labeling the maps or drawing up a comprehensive list, though- it's mostly just a thing folks will assume is common knowledge at this point. If you hear someone call out a location by a nickname and you don't know what they mean, just ask them for the grid square instead.
