You don't need premium time.

You need to first create a group, then create a lobby. Both buttons are on the bottom of the friend window.

You can play with whoever you want to play in a lobby since when you create it you are the one inviting people into it. Most important option is "Full Teams = No", it allows you to play with less than 12v12. Apart from that you can select any map, game mode, tonnage limits, stock mechs and no skill tree etc.

Thanks so much for the help, I'm so ready! Now if I could only QP in a group... can I? It didn't seem to give me the option.

ETA: anybody want to duel? I've got my kit fox prepped for 1 vs 1

So glad there turn in to something cool 1v1 are fun and better then arguing I like this. I enjoy this game a lot and people need to understand there a lot ways to play this game well.
