Expanse is the best sci-fi on television right now. Can't wait.
Worried about Picard.
I hated Discovery, and I haven't liked most of the stuff from the showrunners for Picard since after they worked on Fringe (loved Fringe).

the expanse is just the best. it was so good i read the books. game of thrones didnt get that treatment, and the way it ended i dont think im going to watch the spinoffs either.
3 seasons is what it usually takes for a star trek series to get going. first season was wtf, just too much weird **** for me to even parse it as a trek series. i did like the charlie mansonized mudd, that was about it. second was better, but its still built on tos nostalgia and nothing more. its better than season one of tng but not much. if its not on trek by the end of season 3 i might just bin it like i did to the reboot movies and voyager.
now that ive seen the trailer for picard i think it might be better than disco. for one where disco is for tos nostalgia (especially in s2) i expect this to be 90s trek nostalgia which has been sorely neglected by all modern trek offerings. it looks like its going to be going beyond the 'were on a shiney ship doing federation stuff' trope and its going to be more like the star trek renegades fan film (were on a not shiny ship doing not-federation things). but that's probably just the setting for what is ultimately going to be a character study. im pretty sure patrick stewart can carry the show on his acting alone.

I just do not want to see a story about another Mary Sue. Treat the genders equally and do not do any social justice practice. However, I brace for impact..

with picard being the patriarchal figure he is there is only so much you can do with female characters before you start undermining the protagonist. i dont think that would work without seriously breaking the show. of course im sure the sjws will get their grubby hands on anything else they can.
