I've been wondering about Crits latey.

Here is what I understand. Most if not all happens afer the armor is stripped off. Pulse lasers count as one hit. Certain weapons like LBX Cannon are good at it.

So please give me a quick one over aboit it and then my 2nd question.

Is the TC a decent help in getting crits? If I'm using 6 AC 2's I like to go with a TC 3.

Does it really help?

Here is an in depth guide to critical hits. It's dated with weapon balance numbers and item hitpoints, but otherwise pretty good at explaining the mechanics.

The bigger the targeting computer the more it will help you crit with most weapon types, but it's not a big increase. I believe it's something like +4% chance for a TCIII.

By the way, for lasers (including pulse lasers) critical hits roll on a per tic basis. A laser beam duration is split up into tiny little tics. Each tic rolls for crits separately.

It's not worth taking TCs to increase your crit chance. The increase is additive to your base crit chance which is already 40% ( although there are weapon-specific modifiers - see the stats in MWO's items API: https://mwomercs.com.../list/full.json )
