So you guys, do you think it would be beneficial for MWO and MW5:Mercs to have a joint, dedicated forum?

I think it would help a great deal for this very forum to be the go-to forum for both games, and maybe even Battletech, but that's a long shot since it's a different developer..

But it would be beneficial that all things BattleTech/Mechwarrior were discussed on a single forum..

What do you think?

I think it would be better to keep both games in clearly defined sub-forums if they shared one overall forum. They wouldn't want people to get confused about what game they were actually discussing. With such clear delineation of content, IDK if a joint forum would be that beneficial.

Maybe with a joint forum there is a more robust "General" sub-forum for BSing and conversing, but other than that, I do think clearly separated forums would make more sense.

No. Let the grogs have their own safe space.

No, I am not a grognard. There are lots of elements of the lore I feel don't have a place in an action game much less in the IP.

Well not everything can be translated to gameplay from table top. Disclaimer. I have never played Battletech tabletop so I have no arguments form that side. I do however understand why some veterans prefer say.. restricted customization. Its the feeling of build up, making each chassis unique. Gotta keep that in mind, when comparing MWO mech customization to all other MW games, tabletop and even Battletech the game, the customization is rewally insane and free. Well except certain things that should be added, like crit splitting so we could have more AC 20 and gausses in mechs arms for example. A downer is that Clan omnimechs are weak compared to their supposed solahma IIc versions of inner sphere mechs. That pinces me the wrong way..

HOWEVER. What I argue against is that MW5 will turn up extremely predictable and well kinda boring with one tech laways being better and if Clan tech and mechs gets included in an expansion, linear staicase of better mechs and weapons aka Clan stuff will always trump IS stuff. One good thing is that mods can balance that out so ALL things will be useful and be more of side grades than left on the junk yeard..

But to your point, it does make sense to have MW5 have their own forums... hang on, might be what PGI is doing right now, I think I remember Russ stated about having a new site up and running soon. Aha...

lol go load up MW3s mechlab and tell me how it isn't more liberal than this game. Even MW4 lacks hardpoint counts.

Ah, yeha well can agree for MW3. Never been able to play it properly but seen vids about the wacky machine gun, flamer builds. MW4 well, in certain areas it were freer but not overall, then again that remind me. Gotta install and playthrough all MW4 soon.
I tell yea, try going through the MW4 mercs campaign with mekteks continious laser beam weapon mounted on a flea.. Gotta be possible!

I heard that people used to make really cheese builds in MW3. Cheesier than even MWO's meta. With people putting all their weapons in the legs and stripping armor from both arms. I only played it briefly myself and never got into the multiplayer. Just something I heard.

There's such a thing as too much freedom.

Even the board game technically lets you do whatever.

The boardgame is even easier to exploit and has its own meta/cheese.

Well duh.. dedicated sub forums but on the same forum.. like we have "general forum" and "Faction play forum", we should have one level higher like MW5:Mercs forum and MWO forum and Battletech forum.. but the homepage to reach all three is the same.. a one-stop solution..

These forums are such a bad environment they should be deleted instead of introducing them to new people coming in for MW5.

This forum does have a bit of a reputation. I have heard from people who specifically avoid it because of some of the bad actors.

I also think it is probably a good idea to start fresh with a new forum.

Why not just use the Reddit which already covers the full breadth of MechWarrior?

keep it seperate. makes more sense from an admin point of view, seeing as forum accounts are tied to mwo game accounts. the mw5 accounts are likely going to be seperate.
