WUT?

Yeah, don't rely on others to play the game for you....is that why you are having trouble with direct fire?

Not just that, some people take ages to target something that they're fighting to get the armor readout, even when it would only be to their own advantage.
(Have seen people refuse to target a mech, even though they had already marked it for everyone else with a UAV, so it wasn't like they were trying to 1v1 it or anything.)

I can't speak to that. Been playing so long that I hit it without even thinking about it.

My point is though that no players should be asking or expecting other players to 'hold locks'. It's literally saying 'play for me'. No one with a brain is actually going to face down and stare at mechs so lurmers can lurm. Even if they did, they wouldn't be alive for long enough for it to matter.

Basically just a way some choose to off load their poor playing on the shoulders of others.

People should be getting there own targets most of the time with a small amount of indirect fire. If your not being a annoying potato people will hold locks when you do need them.

Not if they're doing it right, or they're brawling.

Most of this game as I play it, and many of the people I know play it, involves shooting and then moving to cover. We call it trading.

Trading is one of the games fundamental concepts, on the off chance I get people to practice with its the majority of what we practice.

Sure and there's also a reason we don't always use Cobra Command, guys like you being one of those reasons.

This thread is making me wonder if my 4 LRM20 Mad Cat II isn't a good idea after all...

I'm okay with the LRM changes.

Personally, my favorite LRM mech is the Mad Dog with LRM20s and some Medium Lasers or the Mean Baby with LRM20s, and I like being aggressive with them, getting my own locks, LRM-ing from about 200-300m, sharing my armor, and it feels more rewarding than sitting in the back like some of the LRM King Crabs I've seen sitting in the back like a 100-ton paperweight powered by an XL engine.

Not going to make the obvious joke.

I will say that more often than not I have to leave an area and stop what I'm doing because as soon as I isolate someone into a 1v1 I start getting pounded with missiles. Even in small fast lights its a serious concern. Although I can usually get away without taking a lot of damage, its still a serious concern.

That's a good role for the weapon.
