I think the weapon system is just too heavy or too ammo/ton. I like the idea of a weapon that is shorter range than ATM's but does only half damage within minimum range, but they still feel like worse ATM's per given ton. I'd like to see them more on parity with ATM's, just with the different range flavors.

As said above tbolts are incredibly powerful if you get the right map for them and have spotters for locks. Which is their balance factor like all lock ons. If you get a map that allows them you can be like zeus from above tossing down lightning on your foes. Get solaris and cry.

any weapons system is incredibly powerful under optimal conditions. I'm talking about weight and ammo counts per ton

So you want to make them even more powerful in the situations they shine? Reducing weight and adding more ammo won't make them viable on maps that are not favorable to lock ons but certainly overly buff them on the maps that do.
