Obviously there are other examples from other games and timelines elsewhere, but I was watching this preview of Doom 3 for the Switch. Which sucks, because I thought they were porting the 2016 Doom (friggin awesome sauce game) which would have been hella impressive for that console to pull off.
At it's time when Doom 3 came out on Xbox it was absolutely gorgeous/atmospheric

Anywhoo

timestamped to show mini quad bot.

Btw this all stemmed from earlier when I was looking at Sarna's mech timeline production/re-intro/cease for mechs to see what mechs would still fit in the 3025 timeline of MW5. Naturally, I stumbled across the Scorpion, and it's brethren the sexy Fire Scorpion and thought to myself, it's a shame that PGI wasn't better at implementing physics and mechanical elements (ie kinematics etc). Sure would be nice to see some quads get some love.

Quads do it sideways.

Should be a bumper sticker.

Wouldn't it be great if MWO had parts of Heavy Gear features like tucked-in wheels? That way, if an Annihilator, for e.g., starts falling back, the pilot can deploy wheels and zoom at 65kph instead of being stuck to walking at 48kph while getting shot at.

Jayce and the warriors had a Beast Walker quadruped...

Also my dog is a quadruped, and after finding out that MWO has no quadruped he feels left out now.

Just put a fixed NPC quadruped prototype in the Academy already (or not :P ).

Easy money, basically. And not everyone played it the first time around.

They released Doom 1 and 2 for Switch as well, with some hilarious caveats. Man, we like to complain about PGI, but Bethesda just can't go a day without screwing up something easy.

the greatest iteration of idtech frankly. doom3 had issues but the engine was solid. it went downhill with rage. the bathrooms in rage didn't even have working condom dispensers like they did in prey (og prey, not the new one). if anyone knows a superior video game bathroom let me know.

doom has been ported to all the platforms. its like a hello world for embedded hackers. someone even made it work on an arduino.

I bet the other ports of Doom didn't do this.

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors (a.k.s. the Lightning League) actually had Trailblazer as a quad legged machine. Beast Walkers were from the opposing team Monster Minds Posted Image
And both were rarely used ...

Opposing team needs quadrupeds too.

You don't use them, silly.

Even World Of Tanks has a kind of quadruped (centiped ? ) in the form of the "TOG II". I'd tell you a story about it but it's too long.

PGI's Alex did design his own quad, so of you would like an idea of what one might look like in MWO/MW5, check below...

Being an old school Doom veteran going back to the skulltag era, I kinda wished the Doom reboot had it's own identity instead of relying Sergeant Mark IV's Brutal Doom popularity at the time. I did enjoy 2016's multiplayer, but I hope that Doom Eternal goes back to Doom's true roots and doesn't rely on Halo logic as a clutch this time around. I absolutely hated the limited range that the pump action shotgun had in 2016 Doom.

When I see crap like this, this doesn't give me high hopes for Eternal Doom after the dumpster fire that was Fallout 76 and Bethesda doing stupid **** which in return is diminishing their established customer trust. The saddest part is that normies will buy into this garbage without being aware of the much better source ports to experience classic Doom with wad files like Gzdoom, Zandronum for multiplayer, etc.
