Final Thought About Epic Situation, Some Positives

but seriously though, is anyone actually surprised that epic would do this???
they have been doing it for the past year unless you've been living under a rock. from titles like metro exodus to borderlands. (ps people need to stop making arguments that epic somehow promote sales... these games.are like super anticipated. they gonna do well regardless of platform.)
anyway, there is one true positive about going to epic. it means that epic evaluated and decided that mw5 is worth poaching. so potentially, it's a quality endorsement. I might keep my preorder and hold for a year until it's out of epic.
also, it might be thrilling to think that there enough fan base out there to be worth poaching

Nothing confirmed. We'll find out for sure in about two weeks I think.

While everyone screams "Russ is a lier" right now there is still some time left and I will wait and see for now.

A little bit. I have heard of their store from the discussions in the forums, but not what it is they have ever done. Horseman's link shows a pretty good history of them making some popular games, although the only one I ever played made by the Epic people was Jazz Jackrabbit like 100 years ago.

Just some titles that I remember are all Unreal games (duh), Deus Ex, some Tom Clancy games, Duke Nukem Forever, Bioshock, Gears of war, The last Remnant, Mirrors Edge, Mass Effect trilogy, Fortnite.....and lots more.
So its likely you have played some more games that where using epics engine then you would know...at least more then Jazz Jackrabbit. Man now I feel old knowing that game

Maybe...maybe Russ contact within Epic put in a good word for them? Also PGI is using the unreal engine to beginn with, so Epic would have been infolved either way. Be it just the engine lizenceing or putting it up in the store.
A thing to remember is that Russ also said that he didn't think they would be on Epics store. The first contact with Epic went bad and only later on Epic was ready to talk again. I think he said that the entire talks took 6 month until the deal was signed.
Before that PGI wasn't even certain they will be on the Epic store and where preparing to go with steam. Thats why they put the Steamkey on the FAQ page.

quality endorsement.
"quality endorsement. "

Since when has pgi ever made a quality game or mwo game mode for that matter? If pgi were capabile of making anything of quality they wouldn't have sold out to epic in the first place or made the cw promised all those years ago or put out Transverse to much success. Or no need of Ghost Heat,Gold mech skin for $500 EACH.

Yah incapabile like 2K, Gearbox, Ubisoft, Quantic Dreams, THQ, Deepsilver, CD Project Red and others.
So either you put PGI up to the quality of those guys or you drag all of them down to PGIs level...what shall it be?
PGIs decision, like the others, is a calculation they made. Where can I best sell my stuff, what would most likely bring me the savest profit. Russ said that he feared from his experiance and the data he has that MW5 wouldn't be visible on the steam store for more then a few weaks.
When a game isn't visible to the customers and I am talking here about random people not the BT fans, then you loose in sales. Epic leaves games at the front of the store for longer times because they pick up less games so more people will be seeing the game and no bigger numbers in users dosn't equal more customers.
When you have a million people but only 50.000 see your product compared to a store where only 100.000 people are but 80.000 see it your chance to sell copys is higher even if the total number of customers is lower.
