Just an odd question, played a TBR-C. Noticed in the death screen that it was only the RT that was destroyed. I couldn't imagine how it destroyed my mech unless it was an IS XL engine.

Only went into the mech bay and apparently a TBR-C chassis uses a Clan XL 375, but don't Clan XLs need both LR and RL torsos?

You're correct. It was probably a glitch; iirc sometimes your component is gone but the paper doll shows it red and intact.

Did you notice whether or not the game said you had killed yourself?

Not sure about the what damage was visible on the dollar but if you were riding the heat bar (75ish % and higher) when that first ST was destroyed, enough continual damage for being over 100% Heat Bar could have destroyed the CT/cockpit, etc. Excess heat destroys internal structural.

In Dec 2018 patch, when a ST is lost in a cXL/LFE, the capacity loss was changed by being removed from the top of the Heat Bar instead of the bottom of the Bar.

Do you recall what the Death Screen said was destroyed?

^ Riding high heat with override during ST loss will occasionally kill you before you have time to realise you lost half your engine heat sinks. We're talking 5 seconds or so. Or it could be a glitch you never know!

Seems like you got stackpoled, you might have been riding the red heat dragon and lossed your ST, causing your heat to go through the roof and pop goes the CT.

That change was one of the biggest nerfs to clans in a long time.

The massive drop in available heatsinks is likely what killed you. Once you lose a side torso you pretty much can't fire any heat generating weapons without shutting down from overheat.

And a nerf to fun.

For the pilot of the XL/LE
Option A - Don't fire weapons to have heat stay below 70%.
Option B - Die instantly to one of the easiest to isolate hitboxes. (MCII, BAS, DWF, WHK....)

For the enemy pilot
PGI stole my kill/solo kill!!!

Good time for the isXL to survive that 1st ST loss, give it the 40-45% capacity loss, change cXL to 25-30% and LFE to 15-20%...

Sometime you loose your structure (either via back shots or explosion/heat damage) but the armor is still visible on the paperdoll, giving the impression of stil having the component when it really is gone.
