Why? Because "the year of Faction Play".

Battle of Tukayyid "historical" info:

Clans were steamrolling Great Houses of the Inner Sphere. ComStar (planet Earth, former capital of humanity, and the global internet provider for whole IS) at first was secretly on the Clan side, leaking them data.

"Because screw Great Houses, when they fall we will rule the whole Sphere again". Nope.
Clans' ultimate goal was the conquest of Earth. On that discovery, ComStar became hostile to Clans. But fighting on Earth would mean destroying its splendor in the process. So a challenge was issued, to fight on some expendable planet. If Clans win, ComStar becomes their minion. If ComStar wins, Clans will halt their conquest for 15 years.

The battle took 21 day, with 7 clans (all present in game) assaulting in succession. The goal was to capture selected cities, defended by ComGuards. Which side will hold majority of the objectives, will win.

In the end, Clans lost because of their inferior tactics (though if they were to commit all their forces, they would probably win). ComGuards suffered over 40% casualties, and never since recovered.
_______

I know Tukayyid was fought in May. But May is gone. Doubt we have time to wait for the next one. Please do it somewhen in October, should be plenty of time to prepare the event.

I suggest for PGI to make a grand FP event - exactly 21 day. Considering low population, all major events will be played at weekends, with some fillers during work days.

Each day will have three scenarios, repeated three times for each time zone. Three times 8 hours, containing three scenarios of 2.5 hours with 10 minutes ceasefire between them.

Event will start at a tuesday, will end on a monday, three weeks later.

There will be both lore and non lore scenarios - to balance both sides with attacks and defenses. There will be also whole Mondays scouting, and whole Fridays sieges, for fans of both modes to have their fun uninterrupted.

All comments and suggestions are welcome.
______
Phases:
Note, scenarios are linear, they don't change upon who wins the previous phase. To have more balanced and lore friendly experience throughout the event.
You may see unusual tonnage limits, this is to provide diverse and memorable experiences.
There are also not as much sieges as some may want, but this is because we don't have enough maps - only 6 siege maps, with only 4 somewhat qualified for an inhabited planet.

Day 1, Tuesday - Rasalhague action

Rewards: Choose one of two rewards - ComGuards deck or Clan deck; and 4 mechbays, 1 drop deck, 2 banners Battle of Tukayyid Never Forget.

ComGuard deck - King Crab KGC-000, Black Knight BL-6-KNT, Crab CRB-27, Urbanmech UM-R60. (i know, Urbie is not exactly a ComStar poster child, but we have none of ComStar light mechs in game). Plus 10 mil C-bills - because clan mechs cost much more, and if sold will provide about 12 mil more profit.
Clan deck - Masakari Prime, Mad Cat Prime, Ryoken Prime, Uller Prime. (to represent Clans that historically achieved any success on Tukayyid, and Jaguars, for they were first)

A choice is a must, to prevent farming both reward decks. Both decks are 10 tons lighter than current limits, it is intended.
I know, it is hell of a reward. But also a significant grind, that will make players play the mode a lot - exactly what we're trying to achieve. Maybe bump requirements to 75 games and 18750 score... Or just cut down to King Crab or Mad Cat, with one mech bay.

Good one.
Some comments, I think asking for more than 3 FP daily game on a weekday is a bit too much for the majority of players maybe keep the 5 FP match for weekends, and maybe transform gxp rewards for immediate gsp (more attractive) But well thinked. (maybe the participation reward 2 is a bit too Much so we can't complain of that. )

Yes, i'm afraid i did :)
I just can't let go even the faintest hope that CW can be great again. So i geek out from time to time.

Daily events ask for 3 games on a workday, and 5 on saturday/sunday. I remember playin 4-5 FP games on workday evenings, before the new system. But i'm not sure how it compares to an average playtime.
If that's too much, it can be 2 and 3-4 games required.. Though it feels to me as easy pickings then.
All numbers are open to changes, i would love to hear what people think about them.

Will change GXP to GSP, thanks, i sometimes forget about this new feature.
And for the reward. Yes, it is tempting, that's the idea. A bait should be tasty enough to not be ignored. Posted Image

Nice work! I wish PGI cared as much about Faction Play as you do.

I logged in to play 15 minutes ago, but there's not even a FP match available to play.

It's sad that PGI doesn't even pay enough attention to their game to know when one of its modes is completely offline.

I hope low population coincide with usual summer lull, and when autumn comes (with further CW updates and fixes), damage can be reversed, with players returning to the mode.

This is why i'm certain, big CW event is a must, to attract and welcome returning players, and to bait those who are still in doubt.

Yes, Tukayyid was fought 1-20 May, IIRC. But i really don't think we have that much time to wait that much. And Bulldog, or other events, don't have as much gravity, IMO.

UPD:
Wolcott - October 3050
Luthien - 04-? January 3052
Twycross - 02 June - 10 September 3050
Tukayyid - 01-20 May 3052
Serpent - March 3060
Bulldog - somewhere around the Serpent

So unless PGI speeds up their efforts and rolls Twycross right now, we realistically can have only the battle of Wolcott this year. I doubt many care for this scenario. I certainly don't.
So it's either breaking timeline fidelity, or let the mode die for good, with a joke of "the year of Faction Play" being its epitaph. As much as i dislike timeline violation, i'd choose it over the alternative. Posted Image

It's more like 6 days of major clan events, stretched to be on weekends, the rest are fillers to play a few games on a workday for those who want to do so.
And thanks :)

I like the idea. However; I have some concerns about certain modes being used.

Conquest Mode still needs fixing. they need to fix the cap limit from 1250 to 1650.

Domination has several things that needs to be worked on for Faction Play. The cap timer needs to be higher than 1:30. They also need to do something about adding stuff like "objective counting down" "objective contested", "objective falling" that sort of thing. we have something like that on conquest.

Some of the QP maps you brought up have a very big problem. Theres a lot I can point out but I don't want to waste time explaining. surely you all can figure it out.

Other than that. It would be great to make for an FP event like that with how the system is setup now by Paul. My hope it would just give us queues of 36+ on both sides for a long time Unlike the no queue bullcrap we have going on.

At least i didn't use incursion Posted Image

Yes, i agree, there are problems that need to be fixed. I don't know why PGI ignores easy fixes.

Problematic maps - i'd love to use only the best maps for the event, but we don't have that many. Only good maps cannot support desired diversity of experience. And with every day feeling same as the next one, scenarios lose their purpose.
