Them
Black and White
A movie that depicts an attack by Giant Ants.
A New Mexico spotter plane helps guide a pair of police officers to a little girl lost in the desert. The little girl does not respond to anything or so it seems. The police find a damaged trailer and suspect that she came from there, but the massive damage only starts to head down the path of a mystery. Later at a damaged store, the mystery deepens as a storm begins to brew. A father/daughter arrive from the department of the agriculture in addition to the FBI. When the girl is subjected to formic acid she begins to scream "Them!". Later during a dust storm the team is attacked by a giant ant. Helicopters are used to find the nest, but it is too late as a queen has escaped to L.A.

yep oldie but a good movie (B movie type)
its hard to get across why this was a good movie
for sure they where not trying to scare you to death
they where not trying to gross you out with gore
in the end the good guys (for lack of a better term) won
other movies that are scifi similar
1951 The Thing from another world
1953 War of the Worlds
1956 the Forbidden Planet
1964 Robinson Crusoe on Mars
all these would be good additions to your collection

this movie is surprisingly good. i went into it expecting typical b-movie tropes and its one of my favorite creature features.
forbidden planet, the og space opera. holds up well to this day.
