I was playing today and my niece was watching me the entire time, and asked if I could get her the Griffin -- the missile one -- as a toy for her. It got me thinking, why aren't there any Mechwarrior toys? I think they'd be pretty fantastic.

PGI isn't doing so because they don't have the licensing to make physical BattleTech toys. That belongs to Catalyst Game Labs, you might see if they have a Griffin.

Talk to Catalyst game labs! try and make a petition to sell Model Kits of the Battlemechs. I am highly positive that they will sell well with the hard core fans.

Get a 3d printer and make your own is only option. I've seen many 3d printed toys.

The Griffin is one of the old anime mechs, isn't it? You might be able to find a Japanese toy of it.

The Battletech franchise starts from a tabletop game first published in 1984. The Griffin is one of the classics. However there is an interesting story from back then. The Japanese company who originally sold the designs to FASA (the Battletech tabletop-game creators) also sold the same designs to some Japanese animation studios at the same time, eventually causing a legal battle over who owns what when some of the anime created made its way to America.

Since the Griffin is one of the classics, it shouldn't be hard to find an assemble-and-paint-your-own miniature for use with the tabletop game. But the target market is for tabletop game hobbyists. Teens might like it, but they aren't appropriate for children.

Also, try doing an image search for "Dougram Soltic H8." The toys you find there should be really similar to the Griffin. So it might be fun to compare. But I'm not sure those would be appropriate for your niece either, as they're now more collectors items than actual toys to play with.

But at least you now know some of the story.

For now, 3D printing is an option:

Page below shows that characters in other series were utilized for the FASA battlemechs. For the Griffin: Dougram -
H8 Roundfacer // Revell Robotech Defenders (Thoren) // Also packaged in a Revell kit, Armored Combat Team. Comes with several vehicles.
