Yes so if you finish one challenge you will have the weapons for the other.
IF you had ER LL but no PPCs do the ER LL ones first. The damage total kinda makes it harder if you go for level 2 first but i tried to have the more common / easier to use weapons in the first tier.

So is it a typo that lists the reward for the Gauss Challenge as a LBX10 for Inner Sphere, not an LBX20?

Next time I am going to:
  • Separate Clan and IS to 2 different Challenges.
  • Have a Starting Challenge that gets you the first Weapon
  • Then each challenge gets you a subsequent weapon and Reward
  • something like Victory= Machine guns = Rotary Cannon 5 = AC 10 = Gauss
  • with additional rewards at each tier of Damage or something like that.
  • Feel free to list some cool weapon sequences that you think would be good

You should probably throw in another Faction event matching the last one. Throw some love in there. We all appreciate the change of pace to the game. If you need any volunteers to go full Planetary campaign events only, I got your favorite GM right here prepared to work for free. o7

Oh yeah .. would love to see such an event

through the past years there has only been a couple events that no trial mech could be used, and many where only a couple could , to be able to come close to or to complete all the challenge.
I have 2 RolePlay accounts one just IS and one just Clan, but due to the nature how some the challenges go, I had bought 1 of each weight class of the opposite faction, and selected mechs that could have a variety of possible load outs, to match weapons, Clan that's easy, just buy a omni mech. But the IS choices were, welll . . . .not so easy, but is possible.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

ahh bummers was reading through saw no one had yet mentioned faction play event, but at the end . . there it was

-=--=-=-=-=-=
again I really like the idea of tier it up, for next part of the challenge, from the rewards of the earlier portion of the challenge.
one just needs to be mindful of which mechs that place in their mech bay.

Actually if its going to be a weapon 1 leads to weapon 2 to weapon 3, etc... should do that in FW... imagine the crying when 12 guys show up with LRM5s...

If anyone is reading this thread over there at PGI...

FP Drop Decks did not go on sale at the nominated start time.

Yea I just finished the 2nd Ballistic challenge and it gave me 1 C- LB20-X and 1 LB10-X. NOT a LB20-X.

So now I have to buy a LB20-X to do 1st Ballistic challenge. They cost 1,200,000 C-Bills. That's 200,000 more C-Bills than I will get when I complete the 1st Ballistic challenge.

If I had received the LB20-X as PGI meant to do,(At least I hope they meant to do that), Then I wouldn't have had to buy it...
But whatever. It's not the end of the world.. Just wish they would fix it. It is a cool event though.

And I too would love to see another FP event. :)

IS LB-10X reward for the gauss challenge instead of an LB-20X?

Nice event. I really like the do-damage-with-specific-weapon ones, but as always I'm tempted to put them all on one build.
The Free Corsair hero we got can field all IS ones and enough ammo to meet the damage requirements, although I would marvel at anyone managing 1050+ damage in one match in that trainwreck of a build.
The only reason I didn't actually try it was because I was sniggering so much I wouldn't have been able to play properly.

I am curious though, why is it specifically non-artemis for the missile challenges?

Neat event but I own no clan mechs, 70 something IS mechs, so I'll be just, maybe, getting the last three. Yes I could use trials but most have really add weapon groups i.e.. 3 to 5 groups, that you can't switch to more comfortable spots. So will probably not realy attempt the ones that need clan weapons.

You know you can change Weapon Groups for the Trial Mechs... Right ?! Posted Image Posted Image

In fact : The game will remember them between the different Trial Mech picks every couple of months! ;)

Except for shooting down UAVs. I've never been able to shoot down a UAV during a challenge. Either I don't have the right mech for it (can't pitch back at enough of an angle) or someone beats me to it (while I'm backing up to get the right angle). Someday, I'm sure, I'll get there.

Just bring a mech which has ERML's in it's arms or one of the larger pew pews and look for white-blue-ish spots in the sky from time to time ;)

Is there a reason why artemis-modified missiles do not count towards the total? I would basically have to spend C-Bills to even attempt it because most (if not all) of my mechs are so equipped.

Okay, here goes!
1. Rain rumbling rockets on them (Rocket launchers, 100 damage done) -> receive 2 LRM 5 launchers.
2. Munch on missile mayhem (LRM 5, 150 damage done) -> receive 2 LRM 15's.
3. Make more missiles (LRM 15 250 damage done) -> receive 500.000 Cbills.

1. Pellet pekker (100 damage done with light machine guns) -> receive 2 heavy machine guns
2. Pucker up, Peter (200 damage done with heavy machine guns) -> receive 1 LBX-5
3. Pepper the steak, Paul (400 damage done with LBX-5) -> receive 500.000 Cbills

1. Tickle the tonsils (100 damage done with small lasers) -> receive 2 medium lasers
2. Tease the Tetetae (250 damage done with medium lasers) -> receive 2 large pulses
3. Taste the terror (400 damage done with large pulse) -> receive 500.000 Cbills

Just an idea Posted Image

Perhaps if you didn't farm the event people in 12 mans we might want to play FW?

Yeah there is no chance I'm removing artermis from both my clan and is mechs and then re-adding it for the event to win lrms... which I don't use....

I was thinking the same. Went to play anyway, did 500+ score the very first match. Luck happens, go try it. Posted Image

Thankfully it's not the whole event. Get what you can done, and see this as a challenge to try for.

If it helps, I got it just doing the C-LBX20 component on the event. Nearly 1200dmg with a 2xlb20 Deathstrike on Solaris. Ticked a few boxes in one go.

I have no issues with challenge components that aren't easy to achieve. I've never got the headshot requirement ones. Good on those who have. I don't expect standards to be lowered because I'm not good enough to achieve them.

I've been playing MWO for a year and this is the first time, since I became aware of the challenges, that I've seen one like this. To complete it I've had to alter some of my builds. At first I wasn't too happy about that, but then I took a Corsair that had two heavy Gauss rifles and replaced them with 2 LBX-20s, and low and behold that build worked out very well, and I'm tempted to leave the Corsair that way. Of course, since I've bought the weapons, I can go back and forth between the builds for free.

The challenges, for me, are fun. With enough work and practice I'm usually able to complete them all. Except for shooting down UAVs. I've never been able to shoot down a UAV during a challenge. Either I don't have the right mech for it (can't pitch back at enough of an angle) or someone beats me to it (while I'm backing up to get the right angle). Someday, I'm sure, I'll get there.

An arm mounted PPC will do you wonders for shooting down UAV's. It can one-shot a UAV if it hits, and arm-mounted means you don't have to be half-a-map away to hit it. Seeing it through the top of the cockpit is another matter. You'll have to select a 'mech with a good visibility cockpit. It's a shame that AA 'mechs like the Rifleman and Jagermech don't have better upward visibility.
