This is true; but the fact remains that FP population has increased and at peak saturation is offering much better games than QP.

The new matchmaker, for better or worse, is a big part of that.

I just got out of a fantastic FP game, completely as a pug with other pugs. Everyone worked as a unit and we all communicated with each other. (yes, this made my day and I'm very happy about it) I didn't have to wait long and I queued with the side that had a higher population. (queued at 11/8)

It used to not be that way. FP used to be completely dead. Now it's not. PGI did something right and I can only hope they do the same with the QP queues.

Early on in the game I was moving my mech into position to wait for enemy advance. This highlight showed me exactly how the game was going to progress.

Me: *moving slowass annihilator into position*

Teammate: Hey Baboon, you going to round the corner? I wouldn't do that.

Me: Nope, just going to park right here and wait...

Teammate: Roger, I'm with you. *parks his Fatnir a few meters beside my mech.*

Enemy mech: *peeks around corner*

Me: See? *DAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKA--*
Teammate: *DAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKADAKKA--*

Enemy mech: *BOOM*

isn't it highest PSR verse highest PSR
not sure but I thought something like 2 solo high PSR, could bump 2man low PSR
seems many combinations could be tossed in here, still as one other said " Match Maker, places strongest verse Strongest"
So it is possible, group size will not matter as much as PSR does

I may just had remembered wrong, but thought it was something like that, . . something in the affect/effect 'it's not the size, that matters but more how one's skill is' , that does

Meanwhile, game population continues to crash...

its better than it was a couple months ago. this "problem" is actually a good indication that things are improving. if a rotting overly beaten horse carcass can be improved.

solos do sometimes (and i mean rarely) get shafted for groups, but i dont really consider it a problem. like i played fp almost exclusively in the lootbag event and had only one day where the teams had me locked out. but when you do get a game finally it usually syncs you up with the holes in their drop schedule and you can usually snake by after that.

But what if you basically only liked faction and actively avoided qp for years if there was ANYONE on a TS you had access to to play fp with, and your psr is trash?

^ Find group. Make friends.

FP mode for group, solos lowest priority.

This is why we need bots, or another way to grind loyalty points.

Pls no bots... unless you power them with AI that can listen to humans.

Proto, I dropped with whoever because my unit (casual, fun based group) more or less only played qp and stayed Marik loyalist, I'm with them for rl reasons so solo merced in mwo for an age just to fp, but got into everyone's TS for when I could play serious.

The point about this only being a problem because population (in fp at least) is going up is a good one. More players is going to mean more groups, which will lead to queue issues and some one sided stomps as 12 mans become a thing again, which ofc will derp the population again unless more self regulation happens.

And if you win, please don't be a berk about it, poor attitudes from winners has been a complaint of a fair few people I've known that have abandoned CW.

In the past I've veered between Team "Mastered Mechs Only" and Team "Inclusive", but right now we need to grab and retain every pilot (ok maybe not every every) that wants to play faction mechs with us, lol.

Uhm, every high level group I've played with is pretty inclusive as long as you aren't a complete *******.

Maybe they are more so right now; even in Tuk 1, MS were organising pug teams on their TS, however there was enough toxicity from experienced players towards casuals/pugs in CW that many just couldn't be arsed any more. The rifts and bs led to one of the "bucketgate" type changes when solos and unit players were put in separate queues for a while.

The loudly espoused(by many) elitism, trash talking from certain teams/players just made it a tough place to learn how to play the mode unless you had a group/unit.

Only if your definition of toxicity is being told you're wrong or you have extremely thin skin.

I'll agree the door swings both ways there, (some ppl seem to go out of their way to take things personally) but it was happening.

Even if it's just due to a learning differential, people don't like being told they're wrong by someone with an attitude (or who have a very different understanding of the appropriate level of "bants").

Things seem better than they've been in a long time, lets not F*ck it up. :P

Yeah landscape has changed.

Past 2 years it's been fine IMO. Some units / groups did have issues prior to that but mostly everyone is fine/laid back - just follow the plan the team wants, that's the only main requirement really.

That and don't reinforce / YOLO, that behaviour will get you kicked fairly quickly from most groups and rightly so.
