Honestly? With something like 600 different mechs and almost infinite customisation of the loadout, I’m nog sure if more mechs does anything for the game, really.

Aye, I'm not sure what else they can add that fills a role that isn't already competently covered in both tech bases. At this point anything extra would just be lore fan pandering. They just filled in one of the last holes (a good non-hero IS ECM heavy) with the MAD-9M, which is a variant of a mech that was already in the game.

Anyone else got the impression that PGI is slowly shutting down the servers? Matchmaking takes forever since a week or two.

Nah not yet. Maybe if MW5 doesn't sell well post-release but not till next year at the earliest.

I have also noticed the increased wait time between matches.
It is possible that the cause is related to the 'improvements' in matchmaker (resulting in some more competitive matches, and much less 12/0 stomping), and possibly a reduction in player base because people just get 'grind weary'.
I can only recommend that we all enjoy the game while it lasts.

I think it's the latter. The games haven't changed at all, there are no less stompy games than before. Rather more in my experience over the last weeks. Maybe I'm wrong about that because I was on the receiving end mostly. ;)

Well I guess the population of MWO drops drastically when events are not running and hence the waiting time to find a match increases, especially when the Trier rank is higher.

So NEXT EVENT pleeeeease!!

MWO players using the Steam client are now down to an average of 400, compared to january 2016 with 2.100 players that´s a loss of 80%. We lost another 50% of the players on Steam this year alone, dropping from 800 to 400, after several patches with "balancing" and the FP disaster.
Yes the number of players increases during events, but it´s a pain to see those builds and even more nascaring and less teamplay than usual.
Matchmaker? If you really believe the MM is still working, like it used to be, you are delusional. Wait time would be 30 minutes and more. That´s why we get a QP Solo match after only 2 minutes, but constantly drop with Assaults doing less than 50 damage, nascar and half of the team not even reaching 100. And please don´t tell me the fairy tale "if you play this game long enough you reach TIER 1 no matter how bad you are". ********! 50 damage in an Assault don´t bring you into TIER 1 or 2.

Not sure. I needed about 1 and a half year to reach T1 and I'm quite mediocre. Do I belong there? No. Do I want to be there? No. But that's the way it is.
Strange thing is, I recently made a second acoount to try some stuff I can't do in T1 without beeing punished hard, that after the tutorial I was in T4 and after 2 (yes, 2!) games, I was in T3. Yes, I did pretty well, but in no way should this be possible.
