Other than that they have added some maps, mostly re-hashes of old maps (called classic maps.... some of my favorites too). A bunch of new mechs, and a streamlined in game UI and post match statistics (most recently they added damage taken as a visible stat).
Theres also Solaris (Mech 1v1), but outside of events I dont play it much. It can get pretty "cookie cutter" in Solaris and inventivness is lets say......disadvantageous to your enjoyment. Slap big damage on a big mech (dakka is probably best) and beat the hell out of the other guy.
Check out the mechlab too, depending on when you left there may be some new goodies. MASC, ER versions of all Lasers, Rotary AC Cannons (my favorite), MRM's, Light and Heavy MG's.
Anyways I still love MWO, it has flaws, it has some people with a bad attitude, it has Nascar (OMG does it have Nascar.. worse than ever). But its still my goto for stompy robot action.

Alot of new things have been included like others have stated, though I havent been playing MWO for some months now so not sure about the balance aspects.
New toys to go crazy with, but dont have too much fun or you will step into toxic sludge... erm players. Especially if you bracket your builds, fun but yes not optimal. Try not to role play regarding canon/ lore builds, painting target on your head for sure. But You know that dont you? Anyway, spin some few more games of MWO to test out and have fun.'
Also regarding MW5 if of any interest. If theres a worry about EGS.
Do buy MW5 on Steam instead of EGS in a year, if you want a singel/ co-op game without alot ( NOT ALL ) of L33T tryhards trashing your bracket builds, sure they are right that bracket builds are not optimal in MWO but the way they go about it is toxic and I'll put them in the same bucket with certain... other bad things in life. We will see how fine tuned MW5 wil lbe in a year..
Im in the beta and its promising. But it needs some tweaking, the A.I is erratic and unfocused at best, the HUD should be customizable with different colors and styles. And also take into consideration for those who are color blind.
The joysitck support needs to be fine tuned for those that want to immerse themself in that.
The heah/ cockpit hitboxes needs to be a bit reduced on the enemies, especially if the A.I stays roughly the same in behavior. More immersion would be nice too, like permanent cracks in the cockpit glass when all armor is gone for the "head"
All things should be optional to toggle in the settings however, to your liking.

You dont make a lick of sense. Seem to like MWO pvp mayhem more and you call MW5 trash, and its not out even yet. Theres a reason its called a demo/ beta/ whatever. Its a longshot if PGI actually will take care of all our concerns and feedback.
PGI seems to be in a desperate position ( why the egs switcharoo ), but with enough premature childmen(women?) snobbish, spiters that shackel them with toxic sludge when they finally seems to actually turn something into actually good product is just further destroying anyones will to make another MW game, becuase why should they care, anyone care about the liscense then?
I get it, rage, frustration, hatred for PGI because of broken promises I bet is the core of what you said.

Care to explain? You dont like it because its not the out of wack amount of customization, and because its not your fun, other shouldnt dare try it, buy it and potentially have fun?
MW4 mercs had nice options, hardpopints were a mixed bag and it all filtered down to a few builds that were prime. Killing off any diversity. Its lore that some things are always better in tech, but done wrong it stagnates and get bland REAL fast.
MW5, hopefully will stay closer to TT, lore, canon builds. Thats the seemingly restrictions. There are some odd, at the glance indifferences between each variants of certain mech chassi I admit. Curious what will be ( or actually are ) the real differences.
Also, if you hated those players that hurt your pride/ fun with lurms, bracket builds, snipers in MWO.
Why dont you rejoice, no more nOOBS and mechdads and all the filthy whiney crowd that oppose your superior skills and ruin your fun, just hyperboling, I dont know you. Just guessing. But they might find a safe haven in MW5 ( including me, bite it )
Glad there are metaheads out there that find the new **** and force others to counter it, part of the balance. But when someone insist on that the meta is the only one that should be fun and other builds is a disease, then all spiral into hatred which disencourage more players to get into MWO.

WHAT are you babbling aobut??? Coming back to MWO if MW5 was good? Two different games, fella. If by supporting PGI I think I see your point, then okay..
Logged into the MW5 severs for two years?? Oh yes of course you mean the MWO ones and you did quit. Well so did I, for different reasons however. AMong them this.. real life and other aspects.

Then it’s pretty much the same in terms of how the game functions and the underlying mechanics of the game. We got a Solaris mode since then; other than that...not much has changed. Faction play has had some minor format changes and is having a bit of a revival. That revival however is at least in part due to the death of Group Queue, which in turn was caused by the increased rate of population loss following Russ’s June maintenance mode announcement. All the former GQ groups still around now sync drop in Solo Queue or just play FP. As to Solo Queue, it is the same as ever, but the population loss has made the concentration of bads much more pronounced so that even chronically mediocre players (such as myself) can have amazing games by just not being wholly suicidal. The better players appear to have left entirely, left for FP, but on rare occasions you may encounter some of the recognized names slumming it in QP.

Play a bit of MWO before it goes under for good. Its devolved into NASCAR and laser spam. MechWarrior games should never have symmetric balance, but they did it anyways and pushed it towards an ESports type game (Solaris anyone) causing this blandness. You can't balance a game with 12v12 qp and fp around comp play. This is only amplified by the "matchmaker." It'll be nice to play MechWarrior and see the weapons as they should be. I'm also glad PGI took the Epic deal now (not with how they handled it) and hopefully used the time and money to polish MW5 some more. I hate Epic and the idea of another launcher, with a passion, but the game looks great.
tl;dr
MWO never lived up to its expectations because of PGI and a vocal minority of the community. They chose competitiveness > fun. This chased away a lot of people. Play MWO before it goes offline, it was and still is fun. Russ is a pos, but PGI still did a good job on MW5. Buy it. PGI pulled it off and MechWarrior is back. I dare say it will become massively popular; the salt will flow from the elitists on here.

Nothing truly definitive has been said, but there's a lot of conjecture and extrapolation from what PGI actually HAS said.
What's obvious is MWO development has ground to a halt this year. Is this only because PGI's busy with MW5:M? Will there be an uptick in MWO development after MW5:M's launch? Will PGI recognize a synergy in keeping MWO available as an avenue for PvP play while MW5:M brings new players into the franchise? Or is the complete shift of focus to MW5:M permanent?
We should know more within the next few months.
