I have been watching people on youtube play MW5 and I have a few questions about the game that can hopefully be answered with what has been released so far.
1. In the mech lab I didn't notice a way to change the engine in the mechs. Is there a way to change the speed of mechs or will each mech only have 1 engine size?
2. I have not seen any mechs fall down. Can mechs be knocked down like in MW3/4 games? Or is it back to how it was in MW2 with no fall down except on death?
3. I heard someone say that they haven't been able to do a Death From Above in MW5, is it a mechanic in the game still or is it gone?
4. It has been said the maps will be procedurally generated but every video I seen the maps are exactly the same with just a different extraction point. Are static maps limited to the demo only?
5. I haven't heard any news on this one but IIRC the devs long ago the campaign will take place over a long period of time and I think I remember hearing about into the Clan invasion. Or was it just before the invasion. If it goes into the clan invasion I was wondering if there were some mechs not shown in the mech lab (like the Madcat).

1. The engines and hardpoint sizes are restricted. This means that you can't swap engines. Also, if a mech has a medium sized ballistic hardpoint, you can't put a large ballistic weapon like a AC20 or Gauss rifle. But you can swap a medium with a small tier weapon, not small with a medium or a larger one.
2. There's no knockdown mechanics.
3. No DFA. You can destroy vehicles and turrets by walking over them however.
4. Probably.
5. It stops just before the Clan invasion, I believe.

Ty for your response. I am kinda surprised that the engines are permanent. It was kinda neat in older games to either sacrifice speed for something else or something else for speed. Oh well, not something to loose sleep over lol.

Yeah, the restrictions are in place to serve some reason and not just the balance, which is what the feeling I'm getting. But it is pretty much how HBS's Battletech works as well and now we have mods like Roguetech. So, MW5 is going to be the same, I think.

The speeds of some of the mechs in MWO are game breaking. 'Lag Armor' was a term to coined for this game to describe a real game mechanic used in a lot of light mechs. MW5 treats mechs more like they were in the BT universe. people generally were not swapping out engines on battlemechs, unless they were specialized mechs for Solaris battles.

Good ol lag armor. MW3 played online had lots of that.
Speaking of mods, didn't the devs say MW5 will be moddable? If so then someone may make a mod to add engines lol.

i tried to do a dfa and landed on the mech, but it didnt do much damage at all. sort of like what you get in mwo when you have to do RAMMING SPEED!!! and im pretty sure it went into the ct and not the head. maybe the modders could rectify that.
