So, after I helped an old man rescue his son from the pirates, the young man humbly offered his piloting services to me. Turns out that he's very gifted. I mean, 42 skill potential.

Problem is, every mission that I am seeing now is rated at 50 difficulty and up. Bringing him to missions would probably mean losing components. Should I just suffer the losses or is there some way to find lower difficulty missions?

Have you tried going back to the starting areas? I once went there to bring back my Davion rep up to hero again by fighting pirates and insurgencies. Was significantly easier than the areas where the campaign or high reward missions lead you.

Alternatively i'd just give him an expendable mech with abundant weapons like Tier 1/2 lasers and accept losing some of those...

What Daggett said, difficulty ratings are shown on planets nearby and tend to be lower in the areas the game started at

I have a couple of missions left in Liao-Marik space and I've been buying Hero mechs when they show up. I better start moving back towards Davion space to safely grind C-bills and come back. Plus, I still see some of the High-reward quests still available in Davion space. Don't they disappear or did new ones appear?

yeah, for skill build up, and collecting salvage to sell, I do my grinding in Liao land.

I've have dismissed Leon and the what's his name (the 42 guy), my lowest pilot now is 52, saw no reason to keep paying them, since I'm not using them, I do have one extra (51), just encase one dies early in a multi-part mission

Ah leon... i dismissed him a few days ago. Once you start hiring pilots who begin with 45+ pts and max out 58-60... the guy you brought up to 41 of 43 isn't worth the salary any longer.

im going to have to head back to davion space. seems i have been unable to complete many missions on the steiner-marik border. not enough tonnage to beat those steiner scout lances and stay in the black. not to mention the fact that im losing pilots every 3rd mission.

Aw, I'm keeping Leon, even if he never sees another mission. His salary is a pittance.

None of the pilots' salaries increase. I mean, they max out their skill and still they're happy getting the same salary as they first joined. Or maybe I'm wrong 'cause it's easy to earn C-bills in the 8-7 renown territory and I haven't noticed.

I'm sure that is true, no salary increase,
but have no reason to keep something I don't use any more, also eliminating any competition for procreating with the female pilots
