Just curious, from the streams i watched these stood out like a sore thumb, I'm wondering if this has been fixed in a patch so that tanks and choppers don't pop up out of nowhere right in front of you.
(or at least give them bunkers they can drive out of so it make sense, like the BT mission for SL cache)

Was Enemy Spawn Points Fixed/changed?

First patch after the game released they changed the spawns. At the game release, they were essentially always spawning netx to you, or almost.
Now it's better, they can spawn close, further away, etc.
Probably still not perfect, but a nice improvement for sure.

While it sometimes still bugs out and spawns stuff way too close i think overall it's significantly better than before.

Occasionally they will spawn close, but generally its not too bad, as these other guys have stated, it could still be improved a bit, but not too bad right now. I find if I don't move at max speed all the time that seems to help, of course it could just be my imagination too.

Enemies shouldn't be "spawning" at all. They should be on the map doing their thing (patrolling, guarding, scouting or whatever suits the mission. And you should be able to scout them out to plan ahead and be able to use long range tactics.
It doesn't need "improved spawning", it needs a complete redesign.

It's not as easy as it sounds because such a system takes away a lot of difficulty control, especially in randomly generated missions. It's very hard to balance between "too easy, i just kill one small group after another" and "too hard, once i attack they are all swarming me".
It makes a big difference if a base is protected by three lances at once or if they come in three well-timed waves.
Unless you want an AI that does not react to an attack and let's you pick off one guard after another. But that's a whole different gameplay and i think in a game with big, clunky and loud 100t mechs this would be much more immersion-breaking than waves (as long as those waves don't pop up right behind you).

The spawns are still an issue when you have AI lance-mates with LRMs and they can't fire anymore 'cause the enemies have appeared out of thin-air inside their minimum range.

it is still as bad as ever as far as i can tell, for days i have been seeing constant sudden appearances of tanks / helicopters and mechs behind me ..not just once ..and tonight, i even had 2 mechs get dropped RIGHT beside me..i mean mere feet away..sorry but programming something to constantly provide waves never ending of mechs/tanks/helicopters is just silly..seems lazy to me..seems lie one level of toughness in this game whether youre low level or high level game reacts and does the one thing it was told to do..prove infinite amount of waves........oh..and i remember in training at the beginning that there would be access to mech bays in missions...ok, if you are going to have infinite amount of waves....how about when we conquer a base..let us have access to mech bays not destroyed??

Yesterday I had a quest-mission where I was fighting 8 mechs and what seemed like countless vtol/tanks at the same time. I'm rank 9 right now.. and lemme tell you, having 20+ enemies on screen at the same time is too much!
So I tried to pull a sneaky on them, reloaded and tried to go all around the ridge to the back of the target base.. and then a dropship appeared and dropped a full lance of mechs directly on my head.
I really wish enemies didn't "spawn", but were simply procedurally placed on the map in fixed locations, just like any other map feature.
That way, the player could be a lot more strategic about how he plays. Sure, some randomness would be removed, but the way it is now, it feels all "deus ex machina" - you HAVE TO fight a certain number of enemies, regardless of what route you take or how smart you play. It's unavoidable, and that's not good.
If I know route A has 4 mechs and 8 tanks in it, why not give me the option to take route B, circumvent them, and attack a base from a ridge and long range, then draw those defenders into a narrow canyon where my high-positioned lurmers and PPC snipers can crush them? Because a dropship will appear 200 meters behind me, anywhere on the map..

See that I don't actually have a problem with. If they are spawned in a way that makes some modicum of sense (like a bunker or dropship) then great. Dropships at least give you time to react/regroup and catch the new arrivals off-guard.
I was thinking about getting the expansion pass for BattleTech, but since this is basically the same price i'll get this one instead.
