your objective could be to try to rotate behind the enemy team

In that case you're not rushing the enemy position, you're flanking it.

I'll give you an A+ for the correct usage of the that grammar loop hole.

Flanking is attacking from the side.

Flanking an enemy means attacking from one or more sides, at an angle to the enemy's direction of engagement.

The root word literally means "to be on the side of"

Flanking is attacking from the side. It has nothing to do with "moving behind." In this context, that is called a rotation.

No Skill Rush is a descriptor for all mindless W key. It doesn't require an objective.

You need to look up the definition form a military perspective. We're not playing Butcher Simulator Online.

By extension of your logic if we take NASCAR from the origin there is no such thing in MWO because we're not in cars and it's not a racing game.

From a military perspective flanking means to attack from the side.

Yes, thankyou.

It takes two teams to nascar, one team loses, nascar wins every time.

hmm, interesting point, however...

Nascar is when a team rotates counter clockwise with no regard for their own or the enemy teams position. It takes 1 team to nascar. Nascar fails most of the time.

I sometimes wonder if we could have avoided years of endless bickering if we had just used a different terminology.

For example, if instead of calling it NASCAR we said that two teams are setting up in an oblique order and attempting to overpower the other's under-strengthed flank. Since both teams are set up in this formation, it becomes a battle over which side can overpower the others flank faster and then use their superior manpower to just crush what remains.

Over the last year or so I've gotten into the Total War series and I have basically been doing the same thing I do in MWO to great effect. Overload one flank, smash that flank, envelop the rest. If I had better micro I could probably fully simulate the MWO standard tactic.

Total war is awesome, but FP is missing your solo drop 1 man army awesomeness

100%, it still happens sometimes, but extremely rarely. Even on small maps it takes respawns enough time to get lines on the fight for one team to get completely wiped.

Played FP for a few drops the other night in a 12man. We dropped vs a mixed team of very casual players and so we decided to 'QP it'. It was on HPG too, so salient to the conversation. We just all sprinted to the right, abandoning each other and with no real effort at cohesion. Just a lot of 'YEEEEE HAAAAWWWW! GO FAST, SHOOT ROBBITS, TURN LEFT!' Honestly I think both teams had more fun than if we'd done what normally happens in FP - Take top or ramp, try and split the other team on a corner. Or for some teams back up against the very edge of the map and wait to get farmed out.

I would argue that nascar originated from lights wanting to try and catch out slow assaults from the enemy team. However everyone has always said that 'stick together' is the key to winning, so the rest of the team would chase the lights trying to stay together and not get left behind.

Ironically nascar, which we define as leaving teammates to die while we run to the right, comes from the desire not to be left behind.

At this point Proto has argued himself into a corner and isn't going to admit that he's wrong, so just let him do his thing. As a slang term Nascar is defined by consensus of how it's used not by what Prototelis is trying to say it is to justify why he said something wrong on the interwebs.

However it is true that Nascar is a symptom of how genuinely, measurably terrible at the game most people are in QP. Nascar doesn't happen in Faction because even the most minute particle of situational awareness and most basic, ham fisted grasp of teamwork leads to NOT nascar. It's nothing to do with respawns or anything else - it's that it's an incredibly stupid decision to make in this sort of game. Even when you've got a full team of mechs with speed synergy you don't nascar. Because that would make you an idiot.

I haven't argued myself anywhere, but it's cute that you keep coming back here to toss another word salad.

It takes two teams to nascar, one team will win, nascar works every time.

The truth is I'm not having fun in any of the assault mechs I've tried using, but I feel obligated to at least use most of my tonnage. I wish I could donate unused tonnage to the rest of my team and just bring mediums and lights.

Maybe I'll try an atlas.
