PGI, thank you for the free Cauldron-Born

I like this Prize 'Mech very much. Playing this 'Mech is fun and that is all I am asking for.

In my very first mission I managed to achieve a quite solid score and a good damage while piloting the Cauldron-Born, considering that it was a completely unskilled 'Mech.

Just a few moments ago this 'Mech helped me to survive a pretty serious beating - 13% health is not much: Posted Image

Thanks again for such neat 'Mech.

Went the Grasshopper instead, Zeus loyalty variant meant most useful to get a second third C-Bill bonus Grasshopper.

I already own the Masakari awarded as a prize after the Battle of Tukayyid CW event and I own several BattleMasters that fill a similar niche as the Zeus.

And since I own a number of IS heavy 'Mechs, but not so many Clan ones, I went with the Cauldron-Born.

I went Zeus as well and the end only thing I changed was the engine to a smaller light engine ( only does 68 km/hr but still fast enough for an assault.

I went with the Jag as well. My Jag hero runs 2 LPL + 6 ERML. This Prime (S) variant runs Gauss + 6 ERML. Pretty decent mechs.

I am going to use it more often for the next few days to test it. If I like it enough, maybe I will buy "Esprit de Corps" during the upcoming sale.

There is just a bit of disappointment that this homegrown Smoke Jaguar 'Mech does not have a genuine Smoke Jaguar Hero, but some insignificant Cloud Cobra officer with a misspeled name.

You can try UAC20 + MPLs or UAC10 + MPLs for a bigger burst damage. They're pretty good as well although you probably won't get the UAC Jam Chance reduction quirk from some of the Jag variants' set-of-8 bonus.

I tried that but found it too hot. It's the C-MPL unfortunately and I personally didn't like the heat build-up. On the flip-side, I have a XL360 Black Knight with 9 MPLs and runs at 83kph and that rocks! Posted Image

It seems that there is some problem with the sale, so I will have to wait with the purchase of additional 'Mech. Oh, well.

At least I will have more time to think what to put on it.

*9MPL. Firing them 5 + 4 only sends heat up to 50% of heat bar (Forest colony) so that's still pretty good. I miss when clan MPL was 8 damage.....6.5 is so anemic compared to IS MPL's 6 damage, considering the burntime + increased heat.

the 5+4 mpl runs like a blast - and sure blasts a lot. one of the few things it does A LOT better than the more popular hellbringer.

I miss running that thing in FW; but there's no going back, as it's either pugs or "lets go to the edge of the map and erLL-snipe them", and not much else left there. :-/

You should come to QP and run the XL360 Black Knight with 9 MPLs @ 83kph Posted Image

i really only use isxls on lights and fast mediums. only time to run it on anything bigger is in highly coordinated settings. remember those 400xl battlemaster rushes? they were brutal, at least till people learned to xl check any fast assault mech.
