I visited Terra and what the hell happened to the planet? I am a Battletech nerd, and from everything I knew, Terra hadn't become a desert planet wasteland....but twice I've visited it in my campaign and both times it looks like Mars meets Tatooine. Nothing but brown desolation.

Is this some RNG stuff, or did PGI make Earth into a Fallout 76 map?

The closest biome PGI has for Earth is a forest biome. However PGI certainly seems to have assigned the wrong biome to Earth, or used an automatic biome assignment to the universe.
It isn't the only planet whose biome is incorrect, as I've found desert planets with winter wonderland landscapes, and toxic planets with lush greenery.

You are aware that earth has some pretty dry areas too.
Beside that, if you fight on earth I bet Comstar would tell you to go somewhere with no civilians around...like the desert.
I mean the Ares convention is still in effect.

In the grim darkness of the 31st century, Holy Terra is a desolate, toxic wasteland, where heretics, mutants and techno-barbarians are waging constant war for the few remaining resources.

Oh wait... Posted Image

I'm talking about the view from orbit. Not a drop of water to be seen. It literally looks like Mars...but even worse.

Not necessarily is the Leopard orbiting Terra. There's other inhabited planets in the Sol system, like Mars and Venus. And, guess what, Mars is an arid planet.

PGI's attention to detail is the stuff of legend.
