I just finished the campaign. Hey, it gets really good in the last missions!

Now I'm looking forward for both the mod tools and the official expansions/DLCs.

What I want to see (from PGI):
  • Before anything else: the official mod tools.
  • A lot of quality of life improvements (selling from Cold Storage, better UI, player spawning close to Ryana in the dropship).
  • Better HUD.
  • The few time-wise mechs in MWO that didn't make it yet (Dervish, Charger, Vulcan...).
  • Some new chassis added, especially in the lower medium weight. Give the Cicadas some break adding the Clint, Hermes II and Whiworth.
  • The remaining Macross Unseens! Wasp, Stinger, Valkyrie, Crusader and Longbow. The little buggers would be great to alternate with the Locust.
  • The 3040s era, with all the new chassis (already in MWO, like the Hatamoto-Chi) and tech (ECM, please).
  • A Clan Invasion BIG expansion (adds the MWO invading clan mechs and tech), with an engaging history.
  • Eventually, a Civil War expansion (adds the later mechs and tech). A cool history where you can take one side and make the difference in the outcome of the war would be nice (like in MW4:M).
What I want to see from the modders:
  • Better IA (not steeping over or shooting allies/allied buildings; using jump jets).
  • You can hire Artillery strike Aerospace support (works much like in MWO).
  • More missions with friendly mechs, especially in the "war zone" missions. I want to see huge battles (not sure how many units the game will handle, though).
  • More biomes and map parts.
  • More custom missions and mini campaigns.
  • More time-wised weapons (like mech rifles and inferno SRMs...).
  • More and stronger vehicles.
  • Better enemy spawns (there is a mod that already does that very well).
  • An overhaul of the weapons tier system (I, personally, want to add different weapon behaviors based on the manufacturer/model).
  • More mission types.
  • More variants (and better use of the "rare mech" feature).
  • Black market should work like the HBS Battletech and not be just a market in conflict zones.
  • Better enemy composition for the missions (should be more lore accurate too - based on the owner faction).
  • A better rarity system for mech variants.
  • A way to help a faction to conquest a planet from the other house (maybe after X missions won for the faction in the planet).

* Mech specialization, similar to MWO skill tree but not like the grindy exp one but rather, unlocking "upgrade ideas and parts" so that Fahad can modify your mechs.

* Do not want consumables but rather, I'd love having Active abilities for your AI lance-mates so that you can use it for them, like, Mass Effect

* Expansion-sized DLC that actually has unique missions. Just have a look at Heavy Gear 2

* Convoy Escort and Ambush missions like in HBS's Battletech

* TESTING GROUNDS in the form of holographic simulation and the ability to check the full loadout of mechs before buying them

I'll probably add more when I think of some.

If you finished the campaign, I have some questions.. naturally no spoilers please..

1) After finishing the last "camaign mission" can you still play regular missions?

2) Did you play past 3050? What happens if you get to that year? The game stops or what?

3) Is the "Killing Kane" last mission? (I'm dodging finishing that one for fear of ending the game)

not finished yet, but what i know:

1) yes
2) you can play indefinitely, but the last changes to the map and stores are done by 3050. After that, it stays the same.
3) dunno

2) No but I heard some people did and it just goes on

3) IIRC no, its not the last there will be a plot twist....dunn dunn daaa. Well not realy. You will most likely see that comming miles away as its spoilered in the campaing ^_^

1) Yes, normally.

2) I ended the game at 3072 (yep, I traveled a lot looking for the Cyclops hero). Nothing chances. Apparently, you can play forever.

3) Nope. There are some more missions (like... 5 more?)

one thing I would like to see improved, is the Pick-up location, currently it's 800m min, but sometimes 1300+.

had one that was 1320, but had to walk 3000 something to reach it,

even at 400 sometimes turns into 1200, due to terrain obstacles

Nice! I'm gonna keep playing after the missions then.. And if you can play indefinitely, that's sweet! Hope they think of that if they do Clan invasion cose' they gonna have to roll back in-game time ;-)

Thank you for the info.

yeah just keep building up C-bills so once clan stuff arrives, you'll have enough to stock up on clan tech.

I'm thinking of stating another campaign, just to knock out the tutorial part, and be ready for clan tech to start with fresh

I took around 50 hours to finish the campaign 'cause I was trying to buy all the heroes and top tier weapon systems. I never got my hands on 65% of the hero variants, I never came across basic mech variants like the Cataphract, I couldn't find an Annihilator to buy, I didn't find anything better than a T3 SRM6+A, etc., etc.,

There needs to be a better distribution of weapon systems and mechs. The way it currently is, isn't good.

I'd love to see some handcrafted, gorgeous looking maps for a short, focused dlc campaign, where PGI tries to get everything out of the engine. The game looks good but the lighting/shadows/particle effects in MW5 are really, really sub-standard atm.

What is your Rep Level and Year at? Several people have indicated the ability to find certain mechs and equipment is tied to the Year. The ability to find High Tier equipment is tied to your Rep Level.

I have been able to acquire many T5 weapons even TAG at T5. I have seen every mech listed (perhaps not every variant) and have seen at least 90% of the Hero mechs.

As for the Cataphract, I came across the variant with the 3 cannons slots..and it would not allow 3 Gauss :/..only small ACs. Perhaps the Hero would allow 3 Gauss..doubtful though.

3 Gauss on a Cataphract?
Would that even be possible?

Internal Structure: 7 tons
280 rated engine: 16 tons
Gyroscope: 3 tons
Cockpit: 3 tons
-----------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: 29 tons
------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------
3 x Gauss = 45 tons
6 x Gauss Ammo (which is a rather limited amount) = 6 tons
-------------------------------------------------------------
Sub-Total: 51 tons
--------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------
Total: 80 tons - on a 70 ton mech Posted Image
--------------------------------------------------------------

If the Hero comes with both, Endo and an XL engine, you'd have 1.5 tons left for armor and heat-sinks.
Oh, and the crit-space is _just_ enough for those 3 Gauss and the ammo to fit in the mech with not a single crit left empty.

the Hero Cataphract only has medium ballistics, so it currently can not run gauss. As it stands, the best you can do with good armor is 3 lbx10s and ~4 tons of ammo. Even then the ammo is light. I use 3 UAC5 and 2 MLs

Pretty certain the only Cataphract with 3 ballistic in the game is the hero, Ilya Muromets.

It's been a very very long time since I played MWO..however..I would swear there was a Cataphract variant that we used to be able mount 3 Gauss on..

The Cataphract variant I found here with 3 AC hardpoints wasn't listed as a Hero. Let me load up a quick start version and sort through the available to variants to double check just so I don't think I am going crazy..maybe old..not crazy.

--OK ok so it was the IM I saw with 3 Medium AC hardpoints. Guess I bought it, looked at it and sold it again seeing as how I didn't feel the IM was going to be worth the weight/build out compared to my other 60-70 ton mechs.

I'm at max Rep and the year is (I think) 3035+ or something. I knew about certain mechs and items appearing at later parts of the game but if I finished the game before that, then I don't know if I want to keep playing the same missions again and again to pass the years only to buy some of the mechs and weapons, to do the same things again. I get that after the campaign is over, you are given directions to check out the outermost parts of the IS, like the Taurian border and all that but again, the problem is the mission types. Even the campaign was the same mission types but slightly altered.

@ Regarding the Ilya Muromets, I was hoping to put 3 UAC5s on it. I have 2 T5 UAC5 and many T4 ones. But alas...

Certainly make certain hero mechs easier to find. I think the last time I checked I was in 3105 or something and I just now found a Slepnir. There are many 'mechs I haven't even seen yet. I'd love to take a bunch of these 'mechs for a spin, but stuff like the Wolfhound just never comes up in the marketplace.

When are we going to see some actually neat mods? How about creating your own pilot/backstory by inserting your own pic? Or even those of your lancemates? It would be a fun (and certainly easy) mod to put forth to make the game a little more entertaining since the whole game has kind of devolved into 400-ton missions with 30+ tanks, 15+aircraft, endless turrrets and virtually the same battlemechs dropping all the time. I mean...I think of all the enemy 'mechs I've run into in the Inner Sphere; I've probably killed thousands of Cicadas. Thousands. It's kind of absurd. There are more medium mech's out there than cicadas. Dang.
