whether or not it is actually a tactic is debatable. most of the time its just a thing people do when they are worried about the team nascaring and leaving them exposed. more of a self fulfilling prophecy than a tactic.

It's not such a fair comparison though, single player game 2 years old and no new DLCs recently
?
Heavy Metal launched in mid-late November '19. Plan on revisiting the game again soon as the Mod scene is quite stronk.
Point is, the first example (comparing MWO to MW5) wasn't really a comparison at all.
I understand the initial post was something of an attempt at humor, albeit flawed. Not everyone wants to play a game online.
The first is by nature and over time design, (dare I say it) better suited for streaming due to it's competitive nature against live opponents - . The latter is for players that want to engage in a real-time experience of running a company within Btech rather than the turn-base mode. For multiple reasons, from repairing damaged mechs to deciding on which contracts to take, the game doesn't translate best for live-streaming. That's not a bad thing; one is not the other.
Here's the kicker; both can co-exist. Clearly, there is a core that enjoy mech-combat but need the PVP element. That's great - one unexpected thing of MW5 is that I've found myself playing MWO again after taking my first hiatus in 4 years, and I'm glad that it's still churning. That said, I am still playing the **** out of MW5 because it's raw fun that's only going to get better.
Unsurprisingly, there is a large contingent of the niche population that does not care about twitch views or PVP. Take that as you will, but that is the reality.

MWO pop has been stable for half a year, it could even go up if PGI put some dev time into features.

Is there an e-mail notification or do I have to check manually all the time for the event?

Okay. I just thought the email notification would be the easiest way. Don't want to check on forums or launch the damn game for nothing.
